ESauced wrote::x Was going to buy some Game boy and Game Boy Advance games from someone on Craigslist at a really good price. We were going to meet today and I asked him if he’d sign a receipt (I offered to write it if he didn’t want to ) for the sale, since it totaled $400 and I’m not a moron. Plus I’ve been thinking of starting an online store and would need records for my taxes. Dude acted like I was asking him to sign over his firstborn child, making sarcastic comments like, “yeah I’ll just need your social security number and a copy of your driver’s license”.
I messaged him to grow up and called it off. For all I know they’re stolen or counterfeit so I’m probably better off. Very irritated though
I guess I am not getting what purpose the receipt was to serve...
It doesn’t matter. I have my reasons (edit: which I just noticed, I stated in my original post)
Why do you care and why should he have? A receipt with a signature isn’t going to trouble the seller in any way. It’s silly to let a $400 transaction fall through over something inconsequential to you as a seller.

Yeah maybe. It didn’t seem like a business. Just a dumb kid selling a bunch of games. I think most likely he was just being a wise guy because craigslist email gave him anonymity and he knew he could find another buyer at his prices. That or, based on the price, they’re stolen
Because unless you are selling something that needs a title exchange or bill of sale, like a vehicle, no ome ever does receipts for cash craiglist type exchanges.
And you say it is silly the deal fell through over the receipt, but it didn't. You called it off because he made a sarcastic commemt about it.

Did I say I called it off? I didn’t. He did. Dude this is the venting thread. What’s your freaking problem? Go argue with people somewhere else.

You said right here you messaged him to grow up and called it off...

Because he refused to give a receipt. So yeah I said never mind, because the sale couldn’t happen due to him. I think you and him would be good friends. Jerk
As a sidenote. This thread seems like it should be for venting and offering friendly advice. If it’s foe arguing with people trying to vent then its doing more harm than good
