really? Well that's sort of interesting then. I'll keep my eye on it between now and release anyway.

There are no battle mechanics for catching pokemon, just the pokemon go style throwing. Trainer battles are traditionally turned based, but moves are random like in pokemon go and their strength is also CP based like Go. Not a bad thing per se, but just know that this game is meant to be a transition for pokemon go players to get I to pokemon and the switch

Yeah it is more like a Saga game or Bravely Default. It does not change what they said.

Hmm I'm glad I have Ys as it's a solid game. Then again no competition for time either and I'm 100% avoiding Octopath. I was interested months ago, but when more details came out about it, it reminded me of parts of Bravely Default that turned me off that game, and my dislike of RPGs with multiple endings too. Square-Enix has this odd tendency to force you in games like that to learn a lot of typically less liked or interesting job classes through much grinding to get specific talents to drop a boss, otherwise they're borderline if not totally invincible unless your party is grossly over leveled. I can't tolerate games like that as they end up being time wasters and guide sellers, so I get bored, stop. There's plenty enough coming throughout the rest of the year I'll have some good pacing of titles to enjoy. :)

I do like the idea though of a spiritual successor to FF6 being done as it had a decent setup to it and flow.

Have you played the original? It seems pretty nice so far. The graphics are lovely on the Switch too.

I've got Octopath Traveler coming next week too. Damn, it's a really busy time to be a Switch owner. I was tempted by the Crash N'Sane Trilogy and Ys VIII, but I know I just don't have the time for either.
