banana diet

Post by grittykitty »

i'm trying this goofy diet called the banana diet. anyone ever heard of it/tried it?

today is day one and i'm feeling fine so far. here's what it's about - you basically eat a banana(s) for breakfast and drink only water throughout the day. the rest of the day you just eat like you normally would. sounds like the bananas help absorb fat or whatever and digest quickly and promote good regularity.

it's originally a japanese diet designed just to lose weight, NOT build muscle or anything like that. with bananas being 20 cents apiece at trader joe's i figure why the hell not save some money at breakfast and see if i lose weight? you can find info on what to specifically do for free, so i laughed when i saw some website trying to get you to buy the american version of the diet (adapted for food more commonly available here i assume). paying for info seems like one of those ebay ebook scams. so naturally i'm just using the info from one of the free sites and trying to eat less, more often, and healthier in the mean time (as i have been for the past 3 or 4 weeks)

i'm giving this thing two weeks to prove itself to me!

I should give this a try. Can you have something besides water once during the day? I have to start my mornings with caffeine.

i think you can have some coffee or tea occasionally, but it's "frowned upon". but i'm sure the point is the bananas! so sure, give that a shot :)

I've heard of this before. A couple kids on that wanted to loose some extra luggage before joining the track team were talking about it. I wouldnt try it, I am already technically 15lbs underweight according to my doctor. I thought 135-145 was normal for peopled 6' to 6'2? :( . I'm currently 6'1" and 142.

I was in the same boat as you when I was in high school Ryan. I was 6'0" and weighed 135 lbs. The "acceptable" weight level for a guy at six foot starts at 150 lbs.

As for the diet, might I suggest something? Eat the banana and then chug a 2-liter of Sprite really quick. Trust me.

it doesn't have to be bananas...

if you're used to drinking soda & cereal every day, then substituting water for the soda & a smaller portion of healthy food (a banana, apple, or some oats) for the cereal will reduce your daily calorie intake by maybe a couple hundred calories a day, depending on how much soda you're used to drinking & how big your breakfast normally is...

more than 3 bananas a day for a couple days, and you'll be constipated.
