So I'm wondering what will get my interest this year. I've really not used the system in awhile between netflix bingeing and Pokemon Ultra Sun in little bursts by the week.

I'm expecting Ys 8 next month at least, and if they'd stop delaying things there's SNK Heroines and Dark Souls. Perhaps more of a definite list/dates will drop with E3 and I can figure things as out is just sits for now basically which probably should bother me a bit but really doesn't. :)

Not a bad list, some I had considered originally. Ikaruga I have on the Cube so that's out. Redout I'm bored of waiting on much like how I gave up on Battlechasers. Code of Princess I'm not sold on having the 3DS game. Octopath looks too convoluted with Square going too far into Job hell where you have to grind hellish hours on certain skills or you just auto fail boss fights which seems to be their brainless thing to do to sell strategy guides for years now. Street Fighter is a maybe but I have the other on Switch already. Captain Toad I may grab that. Smash Bros I won't touch as it's a boring ass played out game unless you just like to play online. Wolfenstein 2 I'll get on Steam as I refuse to buy partial games with the rest as a download (which kills res evil revelations, mmlegacy collection etc,) SNK 40th I might grab need to know more. The rest are of no interest.

Yeah Capcom’s policy of releasing half games on cartridges really is losing them a lot of sales from me. I would guaranteed be getting Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Collection retail if the whole thing was on the cartridge. As it is I’ll probably wait a few years and get parts of the collections if they go on sale really cheap.

Wait, has it been confirmed anywhere that Wolfenstein 2 contains a mandatory download or are you just speculating? I'm pretty sure there's been nothing said about there being only part of the game on the cartridge.

Also, just to be that argumentative guy, I'm really looking forward to you announcing you refuse to buy games full stop when the only games that exist are digital.

Edit: Okay, looks like it hasn't been confirmed as such, but the box art does seem to indicate there will be a mandatory download.

Oh I can't wait for that day myself! It will be glorious!

Seems like games that require this are starting to adopt a banner on the top of the box art that states an internet connection and possibly an SD card are required. The cover for Wolfenstein 2 has it, so it seems to be the case, though there's probably some announcement somewhere too.

Personally, I'm inclined to avoid releases like that as well. To a point, it'd be more the retail releases, since at that point, might as well just buy it digitally, but still. At least for me, that game would be a PC purchase either way though.

Yeah, mandatory downloads and cartridges only containing part of the game is pretty annoying. I think it's damn right disgusting in some cases (the Mega Man Collection being the obvious example).

But I don't think I'd actively refuse to buy a game because of that. And if I want it on the Switch, then I'd still rather do that than go the digital route, as at least it still has resale value and it still helps reduce the amount of space being taken up on my memory card/internal memory.

PC games switched to full digital distribution years ago when the alternative was to force people to buy Blu Ray drives for their computers. It's an inevitability.

I’m not against digital (in fact I’ve spent way too much because of how easy it is to get a game during a sale), but I don’t like physical games with downloads. It’s the worst of both worlds. You have the physical game inconvenience of needing the disc/cartridge in the system, and the digital game lack of actual ownership because the digital store will close permanently one day. I just don’t see the point in buying physical games from Capcom on Switch when they’re doing it this way (unless you just want mega Man legacy collection 1 and you get it used or on sale)
