RPG Progress Report

Nearing the end of Undertale and without really trying got a Plat. Game is pretty short. Like 7 hours. If Bone hasn't played it yet then this is the perfect RPG for him in length alone. I am having trouble with Mettatron EX however.

I'm about 20 hours in Battle Chasers. I'm enjoying it but I do have my frustrations. Bad load times for a game that could run on a Vita. Wierd difficulty spikes. At times it gets kinda grind heavy and it's not great at supplying enemies to level up as you go on in the game. Early on it does but around level 12 and such it starts getting tougher to find enemies to give you XP. I do like the music as Jesper Kyd is always great. It lets you ignore weak enemies in the overworld. The dungeons are pretty fun. Aside for grinding for some bosses, the boss battle is pretty fun. I love the art. It has a nice comic book feel. Not quite the same but maybe as close to Comix Zone as a RPG....ok that's a massive stretch. I just don't know many RPGs that try to go for a comic book aesthetic. The dungeons look like they came out of Diablo but this isn't Diablo. It's a turn-based RPG. I am enjoying it but can't help with this group of characters..it feels like this should have been closer to Guardian Heroes but with an overworld. The game has flaws but still liking it and plan to keep playing. Still stuck on a certain boss. He's easy to get to half health but after that..I get my ass wiped even after 4 level grind. *sigh*

Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection

Still playing Zwei off and on. I've got about 8 hours in now. Cleared dungeons, killed bosses, had interesting experiences with service penguins. I feel like I'm the only person playing this game right now, despite it being released only about a week ago. I haven't seen anyone talking about it on any of the forums I derp around on. The gameplay is like 25% Ys, 25% Secret of Mana, 25% Gurumin, and 25% Threads of Fate. If that concoction sounds interesting give this one a try.

It's on my wishlist, but I can't bring myself to drop the cash yet with all the games I already have on my plate.

Zwei is very good. It's better than "wait for a Steam sale and get it for pennies" good. XSEED needs the support.

I finished Vol 1 in .hack last Recode. Now working my way in Volume 2.Really like the fake MMO world. Kinda reminds me of PSO. Somethings didn't hold up like the name "The World" Could they not think of anything other than that? Even something like Unlimited World or some very Japanese English name like Final World Unlimited would be better. Also selling 20 million would not make it the best selling game. Wii sports is like 85 million and I think Minecraft crossed 100 million. Sure these games did not exist when this series started but they should have set the bar higher and I find it funny "The World" is a 64 TB game. No. Still, they got some things on point for 2017 mainly shown in the fake news stuff. I am enjoying the games even if some PS2 era game design shows it's flawed Visually the game cleaned up pretty well. Not as good looking as Zodiac age in HD but not fair as CC2 doesn't have the budget Square does. They really worked on the cutscenes working in HD and TBH some of them would look just fine in a modern developed game instead of just looking like a PS2 game in 1080P. I'd love to see CC2 release the original trilogy in HD as well, plus give us a new game on PC, Switch, and PS4.

The original series was 4 games... and they kinda suck. glad they went with GU, which is far better.

Maybe if this sells well enough they'll do an HD port of Silent Bomber

I'm playing Phantasy Star 4. Always wanted to give this one a fair shake, partly for its rep, but also because the first two characters you get are Chaz and Alys (My name is Chaz, my wife's name is Alyssa). super weird. I actually bought this game from a friend in high school, and when I loaded it and saw all the saves, I assumed the dude was obsessed with me or something. It didn't even seem possible that it was the character's actual name.

So, of course...

They go and kill Alys

Fantastic game so far though.
