Scary Games
Anyone else been in the horror mood lately?
I've been playing silent hill 4 and watching a lot of horror flicks.

Re: Scary Games
The horror genre within all mediums has consumed my life for as long as I know.
Personally, I'm a fan of Splatterhouse. What is the name of dark pinball game for Genesis? That's a good one. Outside of the 16bit realm, my taste in horror ends. I've played some Resident Evil on the Dreamcast, along with that Ring game, and I just can't get into it. Decap Attack, Zombies ate my Neighbors, GEX (the first stage)... shit- I can't think of anymore. Little help?

Re: Scary Games
play clocktower for the snes. That is probably the only game that has legitimately scarred the shit out of me. Like i couldn't walk down a dark hallway scarred.
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

Whoa now, hold on. Sure, you may not like Resident Evil, but don't judge 3D horror games solely on The Ring. That is, hands down, the SHITTIEST horror game ever made, likely the shittiest Dreamcast game ever made, and possible the shittiest game ever made, period.HeavyMetalMe wrote:I've played some Resident Evil on the Dreamcast, along with that Ring game, and I just can't get into it.
Please, please give it another go. Try Silent Hill. If you hated the Resident Evil control style, jump to the PS2. It has many survival horror games worth checking out without tank controls. I can give you lots of suggestions if you desire them. But don't just stay with The Ring, because I can promise you that it gets no worse than that.

Re: Scary Games
I think the only time a game ever genuinely scarred me was Eternal Darkness. That bath tub scene freaked me out and the insanity effects are especially creepy when you are back in the house after each chapter of the story. I remember the first time I was experienced creepy things happening in the house I didn't even know the insanity effect was active and just thought that the house had somehow taken on a life of its own. I think Eternal Darkness would have been an even better game if they had made it harder to keep your sanity(magic made it too easy). I also sometimes wonder whether or not it was a good idea for them to break the fourth wall by having stuff happen to the player rather than the character. It made the insanity effects almost seem gimmicky and broke the immersion factor a bit
Still love that game to this day. The spell system rocked and so did the combat. Had more ACTUAL gameplay than you typically get from a survival horror title
