I couldn't resist. I preordered Samus Returns today. I am rushing to finish up a bunch of work (and Arkanoid vs. Space Invaders) before the weekend. I can't wait to dive into it.

Reviews are quite glowing, can't wait to get my copy.

I decided to give the 3DS one last send off and put an amazon order in for the game 2 days ago (along with a few switch titles.) I hope it's as fantastic as the hyped biased media attention gives it.

I know I'm quoting an old post, but here I go anyway.Xeogred wrote:This is complete bull.

Nintendo is damned if they do, and damned if they don't. If they don't tie any worthwhile features and DLC to Amiibo, then gamer journalism says, "why bother with Amiibos? Just over-priced plastic," but when Nintendo gives the consumer a darn good reason to buy that Samus Amiibo, then gamer journalism shouts, "locked content! Corporate greed!"
Personally, I think it's cool that the Samus Amiibo unlocks a fusion skin, and that's coming from someone who doesn't own single Amiibo.
Re: Metroid Prime 4 & Metroid: Samus Returns Discussion
The easiest way to fix this is to allow the user to either unlock with an amiibo or buy the DLC. You get a long term discount for having an amiibo for the games that support them, but if you can't find it (after all, it's tied to a physical item), then you can grab the DLC instead.
If they're worried about cannibalizing amiibo sales, then just make the DLC a delayed release.

I envy you guys that own 3DS's right now for once. I can't believe this thing is still $200+.
Re: Metroid Prime 4 & Metroid: Samus Returns Discussion
2DS, man. Only $80. You can live without the 3D or the handful of titles that take the "New" system; they're better on the bigger screen. And I have a feeling you've got SNES covered elsewhere as well.
Re: Metroid Prime 4 & Metroid: Samus Returns Discussion
I'd really prefer an XL. I guess there's that 2DS XL for about $150... while it looks slick, all the reviews and few videos I saw showed off how awkwardly flimsy the the screen flap is. Did anyone here get one of those? I'll probably be playing everything in home anyways so maybe it's not a huge deal.
The Samus 3DS looks awesome, but I'm not sure it'd be worth the Classic-styled headache of tracking it down if it's rare out the door.

Nice! And yeah my copy has been preordered for a while. This is one game I will drop everything else for and play immediately.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I preordered Samus Returns today.
And Xeogred, just get an original 2DS if you're looking for a good deal. The OG 2DS is ergonomically comfy, built like a brick, and has a great screen. Keep in mind the 3DS resolution is only 400×240 pixels. Going for a bigger screen isn't necessarily a benefit.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
