Just noticed your last sentence and logged out to see the effect. Gaaaah! Okay the huge font boxes ideal for touch screen or cell phone, but prefer more text at once as a laptop user. Please continue to allow the old Gloss Blue to remain as a theme option once logged in.

The default could be the new gloss v3 big boxes though for me only shows one post filling the screen due to the increased box sizes. The "retro" Gloss theme for me puts much more text, I can see at least double the amount of Replies without unnecessary scrolling.

I always thought The Verge had a good experience, but they kinda have the same layout
https://www.theverge.com/2017/8/8/16115 ... tflix-deal

Compared to the verge, racketboy text is 1/2 inch farther to the left. I did browse around more and I think the dark gray in the side bar makes the shift more noticeable, your eyes naturally focus on the white and see the gray as non screen. The Verge's side bar is white not creating that distinct ending line that the gray does, this site has 2/3 of the page white and only the right 1/3 being dark gray.
My site has the same issue of the content is slightly off-center to the left once the side bar is gone, but I have black on both sides of the content. The forums here have gray on both sides of the content and the more I browse and look it's not that the text is to the left its the gray keeps the reader's eyes fixed only on the left 2/3 of a widescreen monitor.

When you viewed the new forum theme, did you remember to zoom out? I know you mentioned before that you zoom in with the Glossy Blue skin, but you'll want to be at 100% zoom with the new skin.

I zoomed in when only on the widescreen laptop to get rid of the "4:3" border; posted the suggestion for others who do not like a wide black border at the edges. In V3 theme zooming out helped a little, but then the black grid border increased. Still prefer the older layout for maximum text box width and still maintaining more words on the screen before having to scroll. That stated, the new V3 maybe should be the default due to majority of visitors used to Win 10 grid layout and Cell phone browsing approach.

The new large layout for the published articles fine, they should really flash out compared to before. The off center placement understandable to organize ad revenue box to the right. I'll take that over an annoying ad that follows an article taking up space while scrolling down. This makes sense especially on the front page, a set place appearing immediately to satisfy the advertisers and not too obtrusive to discourage visitors from diving in.

To capture back the dead space on the right in a published article, perhaps the ad could be placed at the top under the blue border; in each individual article? This way the ad gets satisfied as immediate view and the published article can capture back the entire text box width.

Looks good. I'm glad Racketboy is updating the site and posting on the forums. 5-7 years i thought it was going to get bleak and less posts. Keith Apicary use to show up here.

The forum doesn't look any different to me, but maybe that's because I either don't know how to activate it or am on a PC so I can't see it.

I will say that I did really like being able to see when the timestamp on the "most recent forum activity" stuff was on the front page.

Just logout and view the forum without signing in. Logging back in should bring back the older view preference. Based on the new visit, I am guessing that V3 is now the default? As mentioned earlier, makes sense to correlate with majority of visitors used to Win 10 and cell phone layout. Like the option of choice in the older themes.

Yeah, the way I understand it, the v3 is the new default for new users or those not logged in.
Established members will have the changed their preferences to Racketboy V3 in the User Control Panel -> Board Preferences -> Board Style = Racketboy v3

The new site is very attractive. The white space on the right after you scroll down enough is a little jarring, just in how much of it there is, but it's certainly not awful. I can't help but wonder if a right-hand float of some sort with a few basic navigation functions might help with that. You could even float an ad below it if both were reasonable height so as not to cut one or the other off on most screens (laptops still are 720 px on the lower end, right?).

AHHHHHH - THE CHANGE, IT BURNS US

It seems fine. I do like the older version with more black though just because it's easier on my eyes.
