DLC, A change in opinion?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I was gonna say that. Also the fact that MM9 was only a $10 game to start with! Totally different than paying $60 then getting charged $10 to change their clothes.

I was going to complain about this but I was afraid that people are going to tell me that I am stupid and cheap, if I want something I should pay for it, and you get what you pay for .

I think DLC is great , in only certain aspects. An extra color , uniform, stage, should be unlocked like achievements. I think its really stupid to pay for stuff like a blue shirt for your avatar or stuff like that, unless each item cost like $0.01 , because they create a lot of stuff and make you pay for it. Its milking really.

Personally I feel discriminated against when I play online(halo, gears) and then I can't play with some guys because I am the cheap fellow who decided not to buy the new map pack. I paid for this game, map packs and the likes of it should be released free as an after sale customer service. It should be like , celebrating our 1 millionth sale we released this map pack or stuff like that. This gives the kind of idea that as a company "Buy our game and we will treat you with the best service, and DLC will always keep it fresh!" paying for it gives this kind of idea " Buy this game for $60 and expect us to milk you for it in the future" . The only thing I am willing to pay for are expansion packs, those are like extra games so they deserve it. Or if stuff was really cheap , like 10 maps for $2...then MAYBE.

On the other hand, if I was a publisher or a businessman , why would I make something free if people are going to pay for it?

I'm just sick of the prices of video games in general. I will almost never buy a game at full price any more (except for those which I've been anxiously waiting for). I remember them always saying cartridges were hard and expensive to produce and that's why games cost so much... what's their excuse now?

People were used to paying $70 for carts, so they can sell discs for $50-60, which is cheaper than carts as well as bringing in more profit for the publisher.
