Drakengard 3's final boss might be one of the hardest things I've ever attempted. Tried it for hours today and no go. Going to have to pace myself.
It's an 8 minute rhythm game you have to do PERFECTLY. You can't miss once.
What's even weirder is that the camera is all over the place, if you attempted this vanilla... I don't even know how it's possible to figure out the timing. So some Japanese person put up a video on youtube with a custom bar at the top, but even when I can get this synced up with my TV and play off of it... it's so fucking hard. I suck at rhythm games, but I can get near the end of it so I'm sure I can pull it off eventually. But good lord...
Spoilers but for those who don't care and want to see WTF this is, here:
At least the song is incredible, but ugggggggggggggh. This is the most evil thing I've ever seen, Yoko Taro gone mad.
And sure it might look easy watching a video, but I friggin dare you.

The one at 7:05 when THE SCREEN HAS GONE COMPLETELY DARK is absolute trolling too. The only way someone could have figured that out by ear is, okay when the third line of dialogue pops up that's the queue. That's after they probably failed there and had to take note of it. Otherwise what the fuck? And yeah the camera going all over the place makes absolutely no sense. I have no idea how someone can do this without the timing guide.
Even then...
FUCK THIS SHIT. I've been at it for hours off and on the last two days. I don't know what Yoko Taro was thinking. Nier Automata has a trophy shop where you can just buy the trophies if you want with in game currency, because he "doesn't want people to get burned out". It's a neat idea.
But Drakengard 3, I guess he thought... "I don't want anyone to beat this game hehehehe".

Goddamn I've gotten the platinum in all but one of the Souls games, got Mr Perfect in Mega Man 10, I beat Zelda 2, I beat Blaster Master, I beat DMC3 on Dante Must Die and got the platinum, I beat FEAR on EXTREME, I beat the Halo's on Legendary...

Xeogred...You are not the first member of this forum to have this experience with Drakengard 3. Based on what I have read of it here, I think I will avoid playing it entirely.

It's a Deadly Premonition kind of game for sure. "For Yoko Taro fans only". But despite being like a broken PS2 game I've enjoyed the ride enough and it was a long game. I was even kind of set on getting the platinum, all I needed to after beating it was max out weapons which would have been a grind but I was having enough fun with it.
BUT I currently can't even literally beat the damn final boss. So... whelp. Yippee. Nothing like going F-Zero straight into a cement wall. All that work ... for this.
I guess Drakengard 1 had a rhythm section final boss too but everyone seems to say this one is way worse. I love Yoko's unorthodox ideas, but this is just batshit insane and stupid.
It's sucked the life out of me, I was having fun playing shmups on the side and gearing up to keep going into my backlog, now I don't even know what to do.

Damn... I need to sleep on this and let it go. lol
I'm not really surprised, the buildup has felt a little anticlimactic. The story in general wasn't too great but it had some cool characters and ideas. The music is God tier too... almost the single main driving factor to keep playing too.
For anyone who has somehow only played the Drakengard games and not Nier, fear not... none of this kind of BS in those and with the Platinum polish on Nier Automata, I'm frankly feeling like that's one of my new favorite games of all time and pretty much perfect. Can't recommend it enough. So don't let Drakengard 3 scare you off from Nier or Automata.
I'm not really surprised, the buildup has felt a little anticlimactic. The story in general wasn't too great but it had some cool characters and ideas. The music is God tier too... almost the single main driving factor to keep playing too.
