RPG Progress Report
Re: RPG Progress Report
I stayed up til 7 am to finish the last few hours of Persona 5. I got the true ending. The final boss fight was more fun than Persona 4. Also nice I didn't have to worry about a gas station attendant this round. The final dungeon is the actual final dungeon thankfully. The ending animated sequence was better than Persona 4 wave goodbye. One dungeon I hated. Rest were fun. Casino was was esp fun. Overall loved the game but P4 still remain my favorite. I should try NG+ at some point. For now booted up my save file for Digimon Cyber Sleuth.

FFXI -
Kept on with doing stuff with my new account separate from my others through until level 79 or so. Did additional missions in order to progress RoV farther, for more of an XP bonus, and access to some other events (Dynamis for instance). Artifact armor quests in the lower 60s were balanced pretty well.
Due to campaigns starting Sunday though, I did wind up moving my other accounts over on Saturday, and wound up starting to just leech XP. To be fair, 76-99 XP (at least) at the time was pretty different, largely Abyssea XP alliances. It's very feasible to just grind to 99 on higher level mobs that were subsequently dropped into older areas...but as relatively good as the XP rate is, it'd still be hours of grinding instead of more interesting things
I still plan to try doing some of the mission/gear progression unassisted on RDM to see how it is, but will likely burn up Corsair to bring along with my other characters. Getting the third RoV Key Item was almost borderline (at 85/86 RDM) basically due to DPS - Trusts made survivability a nonissue, but I timed out twice.
Anyway, ended up just pushing to 99, since other than maybe the final limit break fight there was no real question on if it would be possible. Prior to that, I'd made my way to Adoulin, and Aht Urgan, and dragged the new account through the basic Dynamis areas to get wins and relic sets for RDM and COR.
On my main, I basically had been doing weekly Dynamis runs for about a year and a half before seeing a RDM relic hat. Dropped on the first thing I killed in Xarc for this one. Nevermind that I was basically able to go from buying the KI to enter Dynamis to being "done" with it in the time a single run would have taken back in the day...
Tonight I'll likely try the built in mechanisms to hand out some ilevel gear and all that.

Re: RPG Progress Report
So, I need some help in my FFV4JF run. (SUM, BM, HUNT, DRAG)
I have 3 Lithographs. The final one is the water one with Leviathan.
I am about Level 37.
Everybody has mastered all skills in my 4 classes except the final one. No one has mastered the final skill.
I am about to fight Bahamut and do the Phoenix Tower. I already tried Bahamut and he destroyed me.
I am lacking skills, levels and gold. What would be the best place to grind for all three? Hopefully, some place easy that gives a boat load of all three. I wouldn't mind spending some hours to get stronger. I need the gold to start buying Elixirs as that will be my main healing source. Maybe Fire Rings as well...
Also, any tips on Bahamut would be great. I did the Golem/Carbuncle Combo and then used Flare/Odin on him. I think I did 60% of his health and then he one shot me with an attack.
I am nearing the end, but I also know I am getting to the hardest part of the game, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You!

Re: RPG Progress Report
Best place for Gold and AP at your point would be the basement of castle Bal. The enemies drop a decent amount of gold and either 4 or 8 AP depending on if it's a 2 or 5 pack. They die when you use a gold needle on them, but you should also just be able to wipe them with a cast or two of Syldra powered up with the Air Lancet. The other place to get AP is in the Phoenix Tower; every five floors there's a fixed encounter with a Magic Pot that gives 100 AP (I think, some gross high number). The way to defeat it is to toss elixers at it. Each Pot encounter also drops a bunch of gold; I think you leave the tower with 250k or something like that.
Levels; you are overleveled. Don't worry about it. The exp curve is nasty at the level you're at. The best place to level up is midway through the final dungeon; there's enemies that still drop decent exp.
Honestly, for your Black Mage I'd give him Summon and the Mage Staff and never cast a Black Magic spell again. Just Syldra all day long. It bypasses reflect and does almost as much damage as Bahamut.
Personally I think you still want to use Running Shoes on everyone and toss Elixers now and again for healing. Most of the bosses have some way of working around their abilities to do real damage; a mixture of Golem, Carbunkle, and Sylph should keep you going for most of the game.
As for killing Bahamut, cast Carbunkle before he finishes counting down. Remember that Reflect wears off, unlike Protect and Shell.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Gold & AP = Bottom of Castle Bal or Phoenix Tower
Experience = None needed as I am over-leveled.
Black Mage = Mage Staff, Summon Syldra
Summoner = Give Air Lancet, Summon Syldra
Buy Running Shoes & Elixirs
Bahamut = Keep Carbuncle up
Okay, that sounds like a plan. I might give Bahamut another shot or I might do some grinding first. I can see the end in sight, I just know that the last lap of Final Fantasy V is quite the arduous task.
As always, thank you for the help!

As soon as I finish this sweep of unread posts I'm starting my run. The fiesta started while I was away from home so this is the first chance I'll have to play it. I did a Pure Chaos run and ended up with Chemist/Bard/Mystic Knight/Knight. So it's going to be a really stupid overpowered run.

You could probably beat that in one sitting!MrPopo wrote:As soon as I finish this sweep of unread posts I'm starting my run. So, I utterly destroyed Bahamut and eventually Leviathan tonight. I did some leveling, picking up some running shoes and then challenged him again. His MegaFlare bounced off of me and he only did a weak fire attack. We just kept pounding him very quickly.
I did the Phoenix Tower. An enemy dropped another pair of the running shoes, so I now have 2. Got the Phoenix Summon. Took me 2 times to beat Leviathan. He Aqua Raked me twice in two attacks the first time. The second time, we changed to Bolt3 and we annihilated him. I was then doing some AP/Gil Grinding.
Is there a good place to grind Elixirs? I'm sitting at 18 and I wondering if that is enough for my main source of healing all the way through the N-Zone. I want to buy 2 more pairs of Running Shoes and spend the rest on Elixirs, but I don't know if that will be enough. I'm close to finishing off all 4 of my classes with all 4 characters. I'm also around 37/38 Level wise.
I want to do a bit more grinding and I'm wondering if I should change places besides Castle Bal for some Elixirs or better Gil.
Re: RPG Progress Report
There's another 5-10 elixers in the final dungeon. You should be fine; keep a supply of potions and hi potions for between battle healing, and run from all random encounters once you get in.

Re: RPG Progress Report
It has taken me like three straight days after beating the proper Pokemon League, but I FINALLY have nearly all the Pokemon you can possibly get without trading in Pokemon Moon. Everyone who needs an item to evolve when traded has that item, and everyone who can be found out and about (no matter how or where) has been found. I just gotta do Type: Null and Ryolu's friendship evolutions, and then all I gotta do is trade with someone with Sun for the guys I cannot get (and to evolve my trade-only guys) and I have COMPLETED the regional Pokedex. I've never done that before, so I'm pretty proud of myself
