What are you playing?
Re: What are you playing?
I dunno, I love both sets of tunes in their own ways. SotN of course is fantastic, but the middling PS2 games are also really great in terms of soundtrack. Maybe not as iconic, but still excellent.

Really liked Lament and Curse of Darkness. Think they are better than people give them credit for. Esp after GoW took a lot from lament in combat and some bosses (as well as Rygar). Curse of Darkness has maybe one of my favorite CV OSTs.Sarge wrote:I dunno, I love both sets of tunes in their own ways. Oh my ears ae in such pleasure.

Started up Skyrim again this time the Special Edition rerelease on PS4. First time playing a none PC version but I figured I'd give it shot since I don't have room to setup my PC and I picked it up on sale recently at Bestbuy. I was going to start up the Bioshock Collection first but Skyrim just has a way of sucking you in
. Being so far away from the screen and using a controller is definitely a change but the game looks and performs alot better then I expected it to so I ended up sinking in about 5 hours during my first sitting probably going to go through my third 100+ hour play through
.

I'm still playing Prey in the midst of my retro binge. Prey is absolutely amazing. Giving me the itch to revisit Dead Space haha, just love the claustrophobic isolated huge space station settings and experience. Absolutely love where the Prey premise and scenario is going story wise, even at this point in this genre, it's unique enough to me even in terms of story so that's awesome. I basically love everything about it.

And Hard Corps is definitely insane. I keep dying a ton at the junk yard boss, lol. Like... level 3. Is diagonal aiming kind of funky in this? I wonder if it's my Genesis clone controller sucking it up.

You can switch between run and gun (standard) and position lock where only your gun aim moves.Xeogred wrote:And Hard Corps is definitely insane. I keep dying a ton at the junk yard boss, lol. If you hit either x,y, or z on a standard six button controller then it switches shot type 1 & 2. It helps alot in boss battles I've found.

Playing Toad Treasure Tracker made me really wanna play Mario 3D World, so I have been. It's yet another Nintendo-made Wii U game I have but have never beaten, although I have played it co-op many times (we just restart every time, is all
). I just get blown away every damn time by how freakin' great this game is. The music, the level design, the music, all just so damn great.

Been needing to pickup Treasure Tracker, looks awesome. And 3D World is perfection!
Making good progress on Contra Hard Corps. For now I'm just going to stick to whatever the default "first choice" path is. Sticking with Ray since he seems like the general Contra soldier I've come to know and love by this point. I got all the way to this dancing robot boss in the jungle, after fighting spikey robot things on a giant dinosaur head. Finally got a good feel for the third level with the VIRTUAL WORLD boss. This game is like a 90's nuclear blast in your face.
Hard Corps has, without a doubt, probably the most insane first level ever. The most insane initial 5 seconds of fucking gameplay. I can't seem to get through this level perfectly no matter what. It's a game changer when the first normal enemies running at you don't die in one hit, unlike the enemies in the other games. You've got them coming at you at both sides, while one guy or two is sniping you from above, another guy is behind barrels tossing grenades or some shit at you. Explosions, beams, madness. It is the most chaotic intro level ever. I wouldn't change a thing.
Also this game is chalk full of DAMN. Pretty funny.
