Nope. 43 years old, never seen one lol. The army, commando genre just wasn't my thing in the 80's and I never caught up to these flicks.
Me and the wife watched "no time for sergeants" last night. We are big Andy Griffith fans. I've seen it years ago, my dad was in the air force, well you get the joke if you seen it lol. But anyway, it was good to revisit and nice to see her watch it the first time, being a Andy Griffith show fan.
What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Homeward Bound. Not seen it since the 90s and not as good as I remember. Decent but meh a bit sappy for my tastes.

^ Man NEVER hear anyone talk about No time for Sargent's! Always loved that film. "he put em together didn't heee..."
Seriously tho the original Robocop is a masterpiece more for it's social satire, dark humor and brilliant execution. It's a deeper film than it's name implies and more than just the 80s crash boom action flick. I love my crash boom 80s flicks as well but Robocop goes an extra mile. From subtle things in social commentary to little details subtle or not that just make a complete package. There is a 30 minute documentary about it on YouTube. Watch that and it might make you appreciate the film more when you do watch it.

As for the topic. Hellboy. Ron Perlman is great. Some of the SPFX have aged badly. Some of the costumes could be better. Still when you watch this and now know it's getting a reboot..you just know they are going to fuck it up and make it even more CGI packed.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
You're probably right. But every once in a while a reboot does work out OK. The new Judge Dredd was actually pretty darn good, and even the new Robocop wasn't horrible, even if it wasn't nearly as interesting at the original.Segata wrote:As for the topic. Hellboy. Watched The Martian last night. Very good movie, Ridley Scott really knocked it out of the park with the visuals in this movie. Matt Damon brought a very solid performance, the way he mixed his humor and drama was believable and engaging.
Most importantly though my wife loved it, I think she was starting to think the only science fiction I like to watch has monsters or warp drives.
