What was the last movie you've seen?

I really like Videodrome, but wasn't too keen on Scanners when I first watched it. But that was over 10 years ago. I probably need to give that one another go some time.

If you approach it for some hilarity I think that's the way to go. It's outrageously over the top and I loved it for that. But it still had a very serious tone and a really good soundscape, there was like constant droning ambiance and music in the background that enhanced it a lot for me, but I love that sort of thing. The ending was amazing too. lol

It is the '70s version. This is one that's been on my need to watch list for a long time
Well I was not disappointed. Right from the start the movie makes you uneasy and builds tension with the sound effects and angular shots. Those both stuck out to me the entire movie, they added so much tension.

My brain never got to relax because the "quiet" parts had ticks and tocks and clicks and clacks that were so pronounced, you just couldn't relax. Finally when the credits hit...silence for the first time. The angled shots also make me feel uneasy, and it never failed that anytime the mood was meant to be tense the camera would be a slight angle, just enough to feel...off.

Maybe it's an effect of modern cinema, but I was constantly waiting on my deus ex machina to pop up. Thankfully this movie stayed a truer course. Once again I'll mention the practical effects in this movie were very good, not as good as The Fly or The Thing though.

The actors all played their parts well, I was not expecting Leonard Nimoy or Jeff Goldblum to pop up in this. That makes two scoops of Goldblum this week, hell yeah! It should also be noted that I was not expecting nudity in a PG movie, but hey it was the seventies and they didn't have PG-13, surprise.

Just watched Akira, always a good time. Also I realized that it predicted the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games...creepy.

Saw Guardians 2, which shouldn't surprise anyone. It was... okay. It could have been spectacular, but a lot of the humor felt really crass. It felt like the movie was trying too hard. Without that, it probably would have matched the first film.

I didn't really like most of the music choices in this one, either. Given that the tunes were a huge part of the first movie, too, I found it to be a bit of a disappointment.

I saw Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on Monday, and while I'd agree on the soundtrack not being as good, I'd say it did a good job picking up where the previous film left off. Maybe even a little too much so, since some of it felt like it was repeating things the first one already did...but it was solid overall.

Yeah, the movie minus my issues was great, there are just several of my personal pet peeves that rear their head. It drug the whole thing down quite a bit in my eyes.
