In North Carolina up until two years ago, it was:
A = 100 - 93
B = 92 - 85
C = 84 - 77
D = 76 - 70
F = <70
As of last year, we've moved to the much more rational system that our colleges have used since the dawn of time.
A = 100 - 90
B = 89 - 80
C = 79 - 70
D = 69 - 60
F = <60
Also, unrelated random gaming thought - I had a dream last night that someone gave me a stack of every Sega CD32X game I didn't have. I was very upset when I woke up.

So what we've learned here is that every rating system, games, grades, etc... is arbitrary. Duh!

I think our grading scale should be:
Perfect
Good
Okay
Needs Some Work
Bless Your Heart
Just Stop
Everything gets graded on that six point scale.

You need a middle option. Call it "meh" if you must.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
That top one Elkin posted is the one that our school used. Below 70 was failing, 93-100 was an A, and so on.
Of course, in college, below 60 was failing, 90-100 is an A.

I got a "B" in reading in second grade. Mom asked the teacher why I got a B, especially in that area (seriously, I was reading waaaaay ahead of my classmates), and the teacher says, no joke:
"I just don't think anybody should get straight As."
I didn't know this for years until my Mom told me about it.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yeah, I've heard far too many stories of teachers being spiteful like that. It's such a weird impulse.

In elementary we had a different grading system that was like.. S instead of A

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
F = below 60
D = 60 - 65
C = 66 - 75
B = 76 - 85
A = 85 - 90
S = 90 - 94
SS = 95 - 99
SSS = 100+
Let's just go full on video game grading.
