Atari is just terrible anymore. Outside of nostalgia Atari 2600 is just garbage.

The Atari 2600 is brilliant. One of my top five consoles of all time. Amazing first-party library, tons of great third-party support (Activision, Imagic, and so on), and a heaping of incredibly solid arcade ports. Official retail lifespan of 13 years, with an ongoing active homebrew scene. Awesome.

I know it's common for people to put up a "wall" between the second and third generation... But if you ask me why I like the Atari 2600 my answer isn't that different from why I like the NES. Plenty of genre diversity, with great games by Capcom, Konami, SNK, Nintendo, Midway, Irem, Data East, Sega, Namco, Taito, Nichibutsu, and so on...

I would and as weird as the cover art for Phalanx is I like it.Game is just ok tho.
I feel about Atari the same way for most early silent films (pre 1920s even). At the time it was cool as a novelty but aged very poorly. For the most part Atari era is just not that good anymore. I'm never afraid to say something so I would say it to you in person.

Sure, but if it's an unpopular opinion you're going to step on a few toes, right?

I think both Exed and Bone feel the need to stand up for the 2nd gen era especially because many of the rest of the forum tend to play 3rd gen onwards just like you. Oddly enough, a dislike of 2nd gen stuff isn't really that unpopular an opinion on this retro gaming site.
