Though looks like there's one caveat, Amazon has it listed as:
(Not Compatible with old 3DS)
So it looks like if you don't own a New 3DS, you can't play it.
That sucks for me, I only own a 3DS XL and a 2DS. Oh well. PLAY KING'S FIELD.

There's been no confirmation of any version of DQXI coming out. I really really hope we get the 3DS version because the 2D mode tickles me pink.

Yes indeed, totally agree. I see no reason not to publish the 3DS version with the PS4 version, capturing more market share and all that.

I'm not as high on Inti Creates as some, but when they get it right, they get it right. Early reviews are promising, in the 8/10 range. That's pretty much what I was expecting, which means I'll be buying this when I get home.

I've got it downloading right now. I watched some videos of the game and I really liked what I saw. I've never beaten Blaster Master and this remake/refurb is the perfect opportunity.

The original is pretty darn brutal. I remember my brother and I tag-teamed it back in the day.
