How important is a good sound system to you?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

How important is a good sound system to you?

Post by RyaNtheSlayA »

Its fairly important to me, but I can live with even the most horrible of laptop speakers and still have an enjoyable experience gaming (Im looking at you T61). I feel without good sound though, a game looses most of its immersivness. Id take an awesome sound system over a nice graphics card or HDTV any day.

I used to not really care about sound, the little speakers on my CRT was fine. Then I got a Surround Sound system! I still have the CRT! But now I can hardly stand listening to sound without that system!

I'm playing on a fairly expensive headset which I use for almost all of my gaming; I like to play loud, and I don't have the luxury of being able to crank a speaker set up that high. I wouldn't say that sound quality is incredibly important to me, but I definitely can't stand playing on a cheap generic headset. There is a static and hissing sound that drives me crazy on cheap speakers.

It's important to me. I feel sound adds another layer to the full game and visual media experience. Even if I'm using an earlier 8-16bit system. :)

Not very important actually. As long as its not very tinny or distorted sounding its alright to me. Most speakers built into TV's are fine IMO.

For my movies and current gen stuff I run a Yamaha surround amp. For my retro game systems, I run an old Pioneer stereo amp that still has amazing sound after 15 years of use.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.
