I absolutely adored the original Gantz anime. I think I even sent you that in the DVD pile didn't I? Fantastic stuff.

I'm totally stoked to watch the new Gantz movie. Thanks for reminding me it exists.

I have watched the first three episodes of Gantz about a dozen times, and I never bother to watch any further. There's a tinge of misogyny that makes me feel gross when I watch Gantz.

Finished Gantz and overall I enjoyed it there were a few awkwardly pervy moments, but the rest of the show was great. That is aside from the last few episodes. The main character actually gets really really interesting and badass for the second half of the show but I really disliked the final scenario which is really short and concludes the show in a very vague way :( .

Altogether I think I like the movie better and it wraps things up in a much cleaner package and makes a whole lot more sense. The characters are definitely a lot more developed/interesting in the anime, but the pacing is pretty slow in quite a few episodes and the ending is completely open to interpretation which is just as bad as ending on a cliffhanger in my opinion. Think the biggest thing the movie has going for it is it explains the rules of the game right off the bat and gives multiple choices if you get what I would call the win state.

The movie almost completely scraps the misogyny there are characters that are showing off for a girl and make a few lewd jokes, but things never go anywhere close to the level of the anime. So it's definitely worth checking out.

Edit: Also started watching Tide-Line Blue, but I'm not really getting sucked in yet. Plenty of explosive and aquatic eye candy but the plots still pretty vague at this point.

I've seen enough silly memes about it (for all the reasons to watch an anime :P ) and had it recommended by enough friends that I decided today that I'd sit down and watch an episode of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, and I just couldn't stop! I watched through everything that's out so far. Though it does seem like just a stupid show that's nothing but fanservice, it's a lot more than that. I'm also of the very squeamish type when it comes to anime fanservice, so take that as a sterling recommendation of substance over style in this casual anime viewer's opinion. That show is so adorably absurd and sweet at the same time! It's so nice to see a slice of life about the life of a shut in, awkward nerd who suddenly has a family/friends forced upon her. There's a lot in certain characters in that show that I relate to highly, so it's an absolute joy to watch (also Kanna and Fafnir are both so precious and I love them <3).

I also adore the intro and outro songs, which helps my opinion of anything :D

Blew through both seasons of Ajin the other day on Netflix. Decent enough show still not a huge fan of the CGI artstyle but they did okay with it this time. Story was a little meh at times but it had it's moments and some of the fight sequences especially those featuring the main antagonist were freaking awesome. Plus the whole concept of invincibility and regeneration after death adds an interesting layer to the combat. Show has pacing issues though and I felt like alot of characters were underdeveloped. Really dreading that it looks like they are going to milk this for a third season though. The writing wasn't as good in the second season and I really don't see an interesting direction for them to take season 3 in.

Main baddy is pretty awesome but unless they bring in some new conflicts in season 3 I think the show is going to go to complete crap.

Also started watching Bleach again since netflix has around the first 70 episodes up and it's been quite a while since I watched it. Netflix is kind of bugging me though the subtitles seem to have horrible timing. Seems like they are a second or two late which is slightly distracting and annoyingly it seems like on rare occasions the subs completely drop out for 20-30 seconds in some episodes  .

Did anyone here watch Macross Delta? I wonder if it's better than Frontier, which was... okay. But the bar certainly isn't very high for okay mecha thesedays.

Also getting curious about Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans since I think season 2 is almost done. I wonder if that's good, but 00 nosedived terribly in the second season and G-Reco was super forgettable.

Optimism levels are low for modern mecha but the curiosity is always there. lol

I get where you are coming from man. Trying to recall mecha related anime I've seen in recent years that was above average. I can only think of two right now:
