I decided to borrow back my 3DS because it was under a couch - dead - no scuffs for anything, only a little yogurt on the screen protextors. I had no idea Zelda ALBW was LTTP when I bought it day 1 - I've really only taken pictures of my cats with it and flipped it the bird because it didn't have Megaman Legends 3.
Now I have my same day1 3DS and a pile of games I've slowly been buying. I even went over my brother's to charge it and buy the digital only games that must be bought (gotta get Metroid 2 - cause AM2R, gotta get Azure Striker Gunvolt, cause Inafune, Gotta get Gunman Clive - Cause Gunman Clive, etc...).
No time!
Incidentally, what are the other must-have digital only for 2D platformers?
Shantae(s), Cave Story, Might Switch Force & Megaman Legacy already.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Given that we are talking about 3DS Downloadable games, even though they're not 2D platformers, I MUST mention Alien on the Run as it is a fantastic game.
In terms of actual 2D platformers, Shovel Knight is obviously fantastic, albeit not exclusive to the platform. Ninja Smash is a fun Metroid-clone game. BOXBOY! and BOXBOXBOY! are both great 2D puzzle platformers as well. Steamworld Dig is also fairly fun, although that's also on consoles and can even be bought physically now.

Pretty accurate review.Anapan wrote:I had no idea Zelda ALBW was LTTP
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Nintendo 3DS
I wouldn't give it that kind of praise. :\ Fairly open world LTTP with no challenge to the dungeons or bosses since they dumbed it down so you can approach whichever whenever you want after doing the first one. Made far easier if you walk around an hour or two and rupee up like mad to buy all the rental gear in town. I got bored of it and sold it after much debate as LTTP is my favorite of the line.
I keep forgetting to go back to DQ7. I wasn't hating it, but the game gets pretty long in the tooth once you get up near that spot with the giant tree like 1/2 into it or however far that was.

I really liked ALBW, but then, I tend to love most Zelda games. I'd recommend playing on Hero mode if it's not challenging enough for you.
Re: Nintendo 3DS
If I ever get in the mood and find it cheap some day again I might, but I won't be rushing out to grab it at this rate. Having more fun with older DS, GB something and my laptop for now when I get in a game mood.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Same here! I thought the way they revamped dungeons to use the special weapons the whole way through (as opposed to finding it half-way through so half uses it and half doesn't) was fairly brilliant. Hero mode is freaking CRAZY though, so I would definitely say to give that a try if the main game wasn't hard enough XpSarge wrote:I really liked ALBW, but then, I tend to love most Zelda games. It's just a shame it took them until Twilight Princess remake to have the sense to let Hero Mode be unlocked after the start. You've gotta beat ALBW once before you can Hero Mode :/

Wait, I knew something was up when I did the first few dungeons and it completely avoided the challenge...
wait; You can't play it properly in Hero until it's been beaten?
Also thanks for the suggestions - I'll load them on and give them a whirl (yeah, I have shovel knight's on 3 different systems, tho it's definitely worthy of the attention it's given).

Re: Nintendo 3DS
Been loading down my 3ds with Virtual Console games. It's just damn convenient to play classic titles on it. I do wish the D Pad was a little bigger though.
Re: Nintendo 3DS
So umm I found a like new/gently used copy of Hatsune Miku Project Mirai DX today at the flea for $10 which surprised me greatly. I wanted this awhile back as it looked oddly quirky but the $40 price tag felt steep.
Anyone else here have any experience with this one? It was on a very small short list of 3DS games I'd still pick off (Senran Kagura which retailed stupidly at $50) being another for example.
