What is it:
Talisman is a long running boardgames series that is part race, part rpg. You roll a die to move around the board, fighting monsters and upgrading equipment. Sometimes you get a quest, some times you fight other players. Eventually you make your way to the center of the map and try to grab the crown of command. The game play is a bit fiddly, but Nomad Games has made a version of Talisman that has made me lose all interest in ever buying a physical version. Within minutes I can play a game that literally takes 30 minutes to an hour to setup (depending on expansions used). The beautiful part about this android implementation is that not only are most of the expansions available, you can crossplay with players on the PC version.
DLC:
There are currently sixteen expansions and nine standalone extra characters. They go on sale frequently. Each expansion adds new cards for the main deck, a sub board that goes on a corner, or a new pawn like the Reaper or Werewolf that moves on a roll of 1. Every game is different, and every character plays the game differently. For example the Shaman (a digital only character) has the ability to change forms once a turn. They can be bear (+2 strength), owl (+2 magic), cheetah (+2 movement). They are also immune to becoming a frog. Compared to the Cat Burglar who when they land on a space with two or more cards they chose the order they interact with, not per initiative order. They also can burgle items from any store. So yeah every game can be radically different.
Why should you care:
Do you like D&D but cant commit enough time to play it and are you ok with somewhat wonky mechanics? Talisman is a solid time investment, but if you enjoy lite rpgs or adventure games it is worth your investment. The best part about playing it digitally is that you can play with all the expansions and you do not have to clean them up:

Personal note:
DO NOT BUY TALISMAN PROLOGUE
It is a singleplayer training affair, that came out before Talisman. It is not worth it, even on sale, since the full game is out.
