Oh, Sarge. This is going to be a long one if we keep going. I'm willing to respond to each comment I take issue with. However, I'm sure you already know it is most of them. It was late for me as well, so I'm not sure it was as productive for either of us as it could have been. I feel like you cherry picked the article quote, to be honest...and that really disappointed me. As well as being very concerned with terrorism, but having no issue with Trump's actions gaining support from Isis.

Trump University is something I would definitely bring into the conversation as well. There is no shortage of additional ammo on each of these topics. I don't want to be disrespectful and disengage, but this won't look pretty if we go forward...so I'll let you call that one.

It feels a lot like "Liberal vs. Conservative" and while technically that is true in some ways, I don't take issue with all conservatives as you might imagine. It is a decency and human rights motivation on my end, politics just happen to be the playing field. I suspect we see those issues differently, but neither of us see them with sinister motivations. I am still working out how to bridge that gap...which is why I keep engaging with you.

As for CRT, I don't know what to tell you. I'm not being nice...I know. "The Spin", "The Banter", etc ad nauseam. I don't take issue with him because he is a conservative. I don't think any of us do. I hope you can see that...

EDIT: Oh, the Trump money article, that is new info for me. I'm not sure how much it changes my feelings about his business savvy. I'm pretty sure anyone born into his position and wealth could continue to be wealthy. Filing bankruptcy as a billionaire and not taking personal responsibility for your debts speaks a lot about character though. That is just my opinion.

Admittedly, I need more info on this. I sort of trust Dave to do diligent research, and this info came from him (with links I believe). So, I believed it. If there is truly evidence to the contrary, I don't want to dismiss that.

My hope is that someone more tactful will be inclined to join the discussion Sarge and I have engaged in. Maybe we can take this dialog in a more productive direction than it has been going for the past twenty or thirty pages.

I'm sure that not many people will agree completely with either one of us, which is why an additional perspective would be great. Please point out, especially if we generally share beliefs, instances where you think I am reaching. Further, instances in which you think I am simply wrong. This could be an excellent effort to inch forward to a middle ground.

I'd love to hear from my man Ack as well. Who I am positive does not share all my views. Still, if you don't mind, it would be great to have the input from another reasonable right leaning member. Plus, you just have that way of putting things man, I love it!

I responded to some of your points on the previous page, feel free to retort or ignore. No need for your opinion on another member which just pulls silly emotional attacks into the conversation. I tend to ignore posts that do that and engage when dialog is presented.

As I see it, the two of you are sharing several concerns (but not others), with the difference being that Sarge is willing to just put those concerns in the "I'll keep my eye on this" whereas you are putting in the "see, this is why he sucks" bucket. And I think that stems entirely from you guys being on opposite sides of the fence. The same sort of thing happened with the Clinton email thing; those who identified as conservative said "see, this is why she's a terrible person" while those who identified as liberal said "ok, this isn't a good thing, but it doesn't invalidate all the things she does I like".

I did want to comment on a specific thing Sarge said re: charter schools, namely that he's not opposed to them. I think this falls into a category of things similar to voter id laws; in the abstract they aren't a bad thing, but the realities of the implementation are. I think the concept of a charter school in and of itself is not necessarily bad. But there are far too many cases of them being substandard for me to feel good about them. Similarly, the idea that everyone who wants to vote needs an ID seems completely reasonable. But when you look at the actual realities you see things like this being a disproportional burden on minorities and underclasses, turning a reasonable idea into a disenfranchisement measure. And I think that's where you two differ; Sarge sees the idea and says "that seems alright", while jp1 sees the implementation and says "that's pretty fucked".

It isn't an emotional response CRT. Every time anyone presents you with any opposition you completely ignore them or say how it was a stroke of genuis on the part of Trump. I don't want to bully you or dog pile but when you see this many people taking issue with your style of debate, not just the content of your posts, you should ask yourself if some introspective thought is important. People have been trying to dance around the issues with your communication to the point of absurdity. If you start to have an open dialogue, I'd be happy to respond in a more thoughtful manner.

Honestly, Popo put it pretty well: there are a lot of things I am sitting back and reserving judgment on, and a lot of things that I don't have an objection to from a purely theoretical basis, but the implementation has been poor or caused unnecessary hardship to outweigh the benefits.

Frankly though, as a right-leaning member, I'm finding myself increasingly dissatisfied with this administration (to put it mildly), and some moves have left me shaking my head in disbelief or flat out groaning with disgust. I am hoping that some of this is just growing pains; after all, every president makes some faux pas when they enter office. The job has a learning curve. But...Well, there hasn't exactly been tons that I've seen which I have liked.

Of course you don't care for it because you are never willing to look at yourself critically. You live in a bubble because God forbid you ever be wrong. Why don't you answer DSH's question PAGES AGO! About your perception of, "truth." You won't because. You will never talk about truth and reality. Only opinion and your twisted concept of facts. Just keep putting your fingers in your ears and hum your mantra about rebuttals and animal analogies and nonsense.

My mind is constantly boggled at how people honestly humor a discussion with you because it accomplishes nothing but fueling your ego.
