I take it then you're for closing down the car industry, as no American life is worth the risk of a motor accident. And closing down the mills and mines, as no American life is worth the risk of an industrial accidentCRTGAMER wrote:No matter what the odds, no American life is worth the risk. I do not think that is a good analogy. Any job has a risk. Walking out your front door has a risk. Debating with a Moderator has a risk. All these risks are chosen by the individuals involved. The Seattle judge alone is choosing our risk which would had better "accident" prevention odds if he did not push said risk. We choose to have an auto industry, mills and mines with all its flaws. We can also choose to lower the risk of terrorist attacks which used to happen far away in places such as Israel and Ireland.MrPopo wrote:I take it then you're for closing down the car industry, as no American life is worth the risk of a motor accident. Do you know what the ratio is between domestic terror incidents vs. terror incidents against this country perpetrated by foreigners?

Is using the incident itself correct, or should we factor in that many terror incidents have been stopped over the years because of due diligence by law enforcement and the like? We've been quite fortunate the death toll hasn't been higher.

CRT isn't wrong in that everything we do has risk associated with it. We have to determine what is "acceptable" risk. There is no way to completely seal the border, no more than we can stop all auto accidents from happening. But that doesn't keep us adopting common-sense measures like license tests, kicking people off the road that shouldn't be driving, altering traffic patterns, improving vehicle safety, and all sorts of other things to minimize that risk. Likewise, when it comes to immigration and refugees, if there are common-sense measures that can be taken to reduce risk, then I see no issue in doing so.

I agree that common sense measures should be taken. Completely shutting off immigration from certain countries is not one of them.Sarge wrote:Likewise, when it comes to immigration and refugees, if there are common-sense measures that can be taken to reduce risk, then I see no issue in doing so.

Well, it's not like it's a permanent shutdown. I can see both angles on this, if that makes any sense at all.

Wow! Some fire earlier, found the entire clip.
Elizabeth Warren rebuked on Senate floor - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRGYT8YK4YI
Senator Warren tried to pull the Race Card daring anyone to challenge her as she was reading Mrs. Kings letter. Senator Mitch O'Connell took the dare and objected. This is what more should do and not be afraid to be labeled racist. Thoughts?

It feels like a scaremongering tactic designed to appease people with an anti-Muslim bias. Now, if we had any sort of credible info beyond "there have been terrorists that have come from there before" then it'd at least be worth a discussion. As it stands the criteria being used could also be applied to half the world.
