So what have you guys been watching lately?

What's the cheese level in The Magicians?

I wouldn't say it's really that cheesy, at least within the general genre (it's obviously not true crime or something).

Cool, I only ask because I thought it looked both interesting and very cheesy. I think I'm fine with some cheese, just want to know where to set my expectations.

The earlier marketing for it (at least) seemed to be a bit off the mark. It's certainly a bit of grad student Harry Potter, but also a lot of Narnia/Oz. At the very least, there's more of an ongoing story versus a monster of the week type setup. It's got some occasional fanciful, humorous stuff, but by and large it goes darker.

The Magicians is pretty decent it definitely dips in quality about midway through the season and there are plenty of plot holes though. Things pick up again towards the end but the season finale is utter bullshit and one of the worst cliffhangers I've seen in a while. It feels like a 2 part season finale, but as opposed to tidying things up at the end they abruptly halt half way through the climax and leave everything a real mess.

It's definitely worth checking out if you have netflix though.

If you have kids though it has quite a bit of sex with it happening more and more frequently as the show progresses.

It's either going to be amazing or an utter pile of shit. I'm hoping for the former.

DUDE. What if it's Castlevania 1999?
