Why does every conservative come across to many on the left as a fascist? Really, not trying to light a fuse to create an explosion, but why the fascist label?
CRT, the language used in European politics is different from the language we use here in the US. Europe has different left and right issues in some ways, and their candidates arrange differently. Don't assume that this democrat / fascist split he refers to mirrors democrat / republican in the US.
ZeroAX, care to explain the political left/right divide a little further? Are all conservative views fascists in this example or is it more about democracy vs fascism?
That said, Trump is totally a fascist. Not every conservative is a Trumpet though.

Unlike "socialism" and "communism"...which definitely were not thrown around lightly when Obama was POTUS...
Well, I agree with that, too. Although apparently socialism is popular now, with Bernie Sanders?
The irony about fascism, communism, and the like is that in many ways, when you get to those extremes, they resemble each other in their authoritarian bents, just with different ideologies underpinning them.

Yep.
I saw The Green Room the other day - which is a really, really great movie, BTW - and one of the characters described the villains as "far right, or technically, ultra-left." Regardless of how you characterize them, however, they were terrifying.

The facists he refers to are the Front National (Le Pen), everyone else including the conservative Fillon, are democrats (as in, they believe in democracy, the "state of rights" and so on).
Marie Le Pen, while not an outright neo-nazi like his father was , has taken the party in a new direction, ranging somewhere between Farage and Trump.

MSNBC is running the 9th District Court proceedings conference call live
Why is something this critical handled via a Conference Phone Call?! All parties should have all been flown in for up person confrontation. MSNBC attempted to keep up zooming in a picture of which judge is speaking. After listening for a while the voices can be recognized. A waste of time anyways, two of the 9th district liberal judges in California obviously already decided. Especially the female voice which I think is 9th district Judge Michelle Friedland keeps throwing in questioning if the President can be challenged if it were a specific Muslim ban. Already known many other Muslim countries not banned and all immigrants which includes all religions are banned in the designated countries. Not even following what the ban is, trying to put emotion guilt into the case. Its the location you idiots!
California's notoriously liberal ‘9th Circus' court of appeals is growing more centrist
The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, based in San Francisco, has long been the court conservatives love to hate. Rush Limbaugh calls it the “Ninth Circus.” Right-wing bloggers refer to the “Nutty Ninth.” There’s even an illustrated children’s book titled “Help! Mom! The Ninth Circuit Nabbed the Nativity.” The court’s reputation for leftist judicial activism is so legendary that conservative groups mount perennial efforts to split up the 44-judge court, the largest in the nation. In 2011, Newt Gingrich called for abolishing the “anti-American” circuit outright.
During the next 30 years, the 9th Circuit would continually draw the right’s enmity with high-profile, left-wing decisions. Among them: It ruled that the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional for its use of the phrase “under God,” that individuals have no constitutional right to own guns and that state laws banning assisted suicide violate the 14th Amendment. The Supreme Court overturned each.
But whereas the Carter judges reliably took left-leaning positions, the Obama judges are less predictable. That’s a big difference given the 9th Circuit’s mythic liberality. Yes, it still has more of its rulings overturned by the Supreme Court than other circuit courts, but that isn’t because of an extreme political bent; rather, it’s because of the large number of cases the court hears and the willingness of states within its jurisdiction to experiment with novel laws.

This means this won't be about "old tired party vs newcomer", it's really going to be a battle fought on the grounds of democracy vs fascism. I hope macron wins.
Why does every conservative come across to many on the left as a fascist? Really, not trying to light a fuse to create an explosion, but why the fascist label? In the U.S. I find some ideas on both sides sound, but lean to the right on most issues. I do not consider the left as an evil empire, though the violent protests not open to free speech do make me wonder.
I watched CNN when the Europe desk aired. They showed a bit of the French election focusing on Marine Le Pen polling her as the win, though the news has proven unreliable as far as polls go. A mention of her advocating closing borders and looking out for France issues over other countries, appears to me as a Populist style of Candidate.
Please keep posting on the events is Europe. Interesting how different countries are changing ideology so rapidly.

Thank you for that, did not know the different connotation in Europe. I still am curious as to my initial question as related to people in the U.S. though. I boldfaced my entire query above.
Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes, and Politics
To understand the workings of American politics, you have to understand this fundamental law: Conservatives think liberals are stupid. Liberals think conservatives are evil.
