Since when are Mario games hard? I'll give you that the later worlds can be tricky....but hard?
Super Mario World is certainly the easiest. The controls are far more forgiving, and if you really want to, you can fly through just about every level.

the cropping made a world of difference. blind jumps suck.
Re: SMB is hard!
SMW is easier just for the fact that you can return to earlier levels to pick up all the lives you want. If you want a ton of lives in SMB, you have to master the shell trick in 3-1, which might as well be cheating.

I beat Super Mario World so many times. I beat SMB2 and 3 a ton of times. I beat Super Mario Land. That's why I'm saying I'm shocked I find SMB so hard.
Re: SMB is hard!
I can usually beat SMB in a few minutes if I take the warps. I think SMW is way easier level for level, but SMB is pretty easy if you grew up on it. SMB3 always gave me the most problems. SMB2 is the easiet of the bunch.

I did grow up with it. I was 8 when I first got it.

Than I can understand your problems I was prob about 4 or 5 when I first played it. It was the first nintendo game I ever played, and back in those days I played quite a bit. I dont remember being able to beat it then, but its like riding a bike. When I played it again in my late teen years I breezed through it no problems.

Re: SMB is hard!
The first Super Mario is actually pretty hard when you don't use warps. They don't give you a lot of ways to get extra lives as opposed to almost every other mario and because of that it only takes getting stuck at one part to end your game. I should mention though that I don't use the 3-1 shell trick or the continue code.
Re: SMB is hard!
The original SMB is the hardest of the SM games we got here in the US, original run. SMB3 is probably the second hardest, with SMB2 and then SMW rounding out the bottom as the easiest.
