Yeah, Battlefield 1's single player campaign was really underwhelming and disappointing. I was surprised, because I saw so much praise for it in some reviews (although many were more critical), but overall, it really is a glorified tutorial mode, with the odd cool set piece, linked by long, dull sections. TF2's campaign absolutely blows it away, with ease.

Speaking of Doom (4), I've been meaning to actually finish that for ages now

Doom is great I enjoyed it almost as much as the original which surprised the hell out me :). So glad they managed to pull off the Run and Gun game play so perfectly.

I've been doing a level or two here and there with Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. I like that its a fast game and can be done in small chunks. I don't like how much health the ranged enemies can plink off.

I'm excited to grab the remaster sometime. Cleaned up, it's amusing how it basically looks like Unreal. Even the enemies look similar in design.

How is the remaster? I heard they cleared up the fog, which almost seems sacrilege :o

Well I haven't played it myself, but it's got the "Overwhelmingly Positive" score on Steam. I think the fog is actually an option now haha, so that's cool it is there. Has controller support.

Just look at these screens though and it's totally like Unreal:

Looks awesome to me... I'm sure if people can put the nostalgia aside, this is probably the definitive version of the game. Better framerate and control options. I can't go back to the N64 for FPS's.

I really hope they remaster 2 though, that's the one I'm more familiar with.

I never played the original, so I don't have an opinion on the fog. One thing I've noticed is the engine has some weird quirks to it. One thing that stands out is that one time there was an enemy on top of a hut, and a couple of pillars to jump over to the roof of the hut (and then you would go from hut to a cave to get a weapon). If I tried to shoot the enemy my rounds would hit an invisible barrier at the edge of the hut. The enemy had no problem shooting me. It wasn't until I jumped all the way onto the roof of the hut (so it wasn't just a max range thing) that I was able to land hits on him.

Also, for a game called Turok: Dinosaur Hunter you spend a lot of time killing dudes and not dinosaurs.

I recall the second game being a lot more high tech and sci-fi in comparison.

I beat the enhanced rerelease of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter back in May. The fog is much more of an option, and the game really excels at speed. It's not perfect of course, but I nabbed it on sale for $10 and would be happy to pay that much for it again.

Yeah, I think I snagged it for $10, and I've been making heavy use of strafe running and jumping over raptors to conserve ammo.
