Been keeping an eye on this one myself, but there's so little info out there about it. From the stuff I've heard it sounds like my kinda thing though. It's on my Christmas list, so here's hoping.
My physical game acquisitions over the Thanksgiving holidays ended up being very BoneSnapDeez-inspired. I grabbed some second generation games (i.e., Casino, Indy 500, Sentinel, and Secret Quest for the Atari 2600), some golf games (i.e., 36 Great Holes for the 32X and VR Golf '97 for the Saturn), and some imports (i.e., Bokosuka Wars, Challenger, Flappy, King Kong 2, Mindseeker, and a few others for the Famicom.) If only I could have found some good JRPGs!

Check out Retrogamesjapan; they've got some pretty good prices on import JRPGs.

I thought about getting it, but I hardly knew anything about it so I didn't preorder. Now that I've seen a few reviews, it seems like something I might like so I'll probably pick up a copy at some point.
The thing about Root Letter most don't realize, is that it's an adventure game, not just a visual novel. Meaning you have puzzles, inventory, and dialogue choices and such. Though I bought the game for its supposed hyper realized atmosphere.

Yeah I didn't even know that until after I saw some reviews. The trailers and screenshots that I saw made it seem like just a straight up visual novel to me. If I had preordered it, I probably would of been a bit surprised about the adventure bits, so I can easily see why others would make that mistake as well.
I mean I'm totally fine with it being more of an adventure game, but I don't think that was explained very well. Either that or I'm really dense and missed some preview trailers or screenshots

Nah, PQube just didn't do a good job stressing that aspect. If anything they were pushing the VN aspect of the game more because VNs are more in vogue now than adventure games.
And I'm not saying Root Letter is amazing, I don't know, haven't played it yet. But from I've read and seen, I think it's worth taking a chance on. Looks to be a unique experience at least.

Most here won't begrudge you for loving and/or collecting for a shitty system. If I ever get around to actually buying a controller and power cord, I plan to start collecting for the HyperScan I've had for five years. I'm also a hoarder of Wii shovelware and a serious lover of the 3DO and Atari 5200. Wear your shitty game collection as a badge of pride.
I definitely intend on also collecting for the Hyperscan whenever I find games for it in the wild, I got the console new for like 15 dollars from Walmart on closeout a good 7 years ago.
And I'd give 3DO and 5200 more love than most people do for sure as well, especially the 3DO, there's some big time gems on there imo.
