Jim, if you enjoyed X-Men in the 90's and want to read a new series then I cannot recommend X-Men '92 enough. I've read the first 3 issues of the 2016 run so far and plan to finish out the five-issue story arch "The World Is A Vampire" in the coming week. It is really a fantastic love letter to 90's X-Men and... well, 90's stuff in general.

1. Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe
2. Fantastic Four Season One
3. Batman The Long Halloween
4. The Amazing Spider-Man "Spider-Man No More!"
5. The Batman Adventures Mad Love
6. Hulk Season One
7. Batman The Killing Joke
8. Fantastic Four Lost Adventures
9. Harley Quinn's Greatest Hits
10. Spider-Man Vs. Dracula
11. Extraordinary X-Men Vol. 1: X-Haven
12. Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1: Director's Cut

one more... I don't normally list single issues in my list here, but I do when they are one-offs or sort of special editions. In this case we've got the Director's Cut of issue #1 which gives you three alternate versions of the first issue: a black and white inked version, an early sketch version, and finally just the original script. It's a very neat little collectible and I'm looking forward to getting to read the full book which I've had on my wishlist for a while now. I don't know what people generally think of IDW - silly? Cash-grabbing? But honestly the books I have read of their stuff has been very high quality and they seem to genuinely like appeasing fans with stuff like this crossover.

so, to answer my own question from a few pages back - I think I'm gonna use comicbookdb.com to start tracking my collection. It looks pretty thorough. The alternative would be just making a Google Sheets spreadsheet or something, but that could get confusing when you've got multiple series w/ the same titles and have to differentiate by year. (IE: Avengers #1 came out this week. There's a lot of issues called that over the years...).

Either way, I'm too OCD to not keep track of what I've got. Plus, I know there's stuff in there that I don't even want - mostly some issues I got thrown in for free. I don't if any of y'all are interested in swapping any comics? Though I doubt I've got much of interest...

Y'know it's weird. As much as I like the convenience of just grabbing a trade paperback collection, there is definitely a certain fun I've been having in hitting the shop once a week and grabbing a couple of issues at a time. I guess it's easier for me to find the 15 mins here and there to knock out single issues throughout the week. And then I've got something to look forward to in picking up the next issue. I'll stick to collections for older stuff, though.

Oh, oh and kind of related: my wife and I got our tickets to Comicon RI yesterday.

so you guys know how I keep telling y'all to read X-Men '92? Well the first five issues (collected in "The World Is A Vampire") take place after this and reunite Storm and Dracula after Jubilee is turned into a vampire...

I wonder how many posts I can make in this thread before someone else does?

Only picked up two comics today. Sadly, they didn't have most of what I was looking for. I grabbed Extraordinary X-Men #7 and my wife picked up the new Catwoman Election Day one-shot.

If any of y'all are interested in seeing what's in my collection, I've started tracking it here:

I, um, bought the third Low trade? I haven't finished volume 2 of The Red Star yet though.

Personally, I don't tend to get single issues. My brothers may still have theirs from back in the day, but I've never bought all that many. Much bigger on nabbing collections (and mostly not Marvel/DC these days either).

Comic Con yesterday... I only ended up picking up two comics but they were both pretty big for me...

I got to meet Steve Lavigne and he was really excited about doing a Batman/Ninja Turtles Adventures cover. I was mixed on this series but he was talking about how he loved Batman Adventures (me too!) so I was convinced to pick up this alternate cover version he did and got his autograph.

Deadpool was huge for me as a kid. So the chance to meet Rob Liefeld was super exciting. So likewise, I got this alternate cover of vol. 5 #1 that he did autographed.

been reading a lot of stuff, but not really posting about it here as I don't think there's much interest in the newer stuff. And I have been reading a lot of new stuff. But for older stuff I've gotten back into Watchmen, and am now a third of the way through the series. Great stuff.

I've read quite a bit in the past couple weeks. I've picked up some other new (to me) series as well... The Worst X-Man Ever, All-Never Wolverine, Avengers (2016) and Avengers 1.1, Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows, among them.

Issue #2 of Jessica Jones is out last week, and it's getting really good. Suggested.

Also, I know there's quite a few Watchmen fans here (right?). Well, the DC Universe Rebirth #1 is an 80 page one-shot that intros all the Rebirth stuff. What is awesome is that it actually hints that Watchmen will be getting tied in w/ Batman, etc. Anyway, it's a very cool one-shot and I'd suggest anyone check it out. I'm a much bigger Marvel fan than DC, but enjoyed it a lot.

Also also, I'm trying to sort of put together a list for myself of some of the sort of really big Marvel books/events that I'd like to read. Like, Infinity Gauntlet for sure, as I only got to read parts of that when I was younger. Civil War is another, even though I already know a lot of the bits and pieces. But then I'm kind of not sure what others are ones that I feel like are kind of important in the long run. I guess I want to compile a concise list of the ones that I feel are really essential.
