Play Black Ops III for the story. Play Advanced Warfare for the multiplayer (which I suspect will continue to having people playing given the okay multiplayer of Black Ops III and the downright disappointing multiplayer of Infinite Warfare).Xeogred wrote:Like Elkin's report above, everything I hear about COD is that the campaign is cool and Star Fox-y even, but the multiplayer is completely uninspired and boring. Considering I'm still interested in the Black Ops trilogy and Advanced Warfare, I'll just pick those up for cheap and by the time I catch up if Infinite Warfare is $10 I'll probably get it then. lol, this is my new approach to the annually released series out there. I'll stay a few years behind.
What single player FPS campaign are you playing?

Did you play Ghosts? The progression system was so awful, hope it's the only one like that.
It's weird because I thought I just heard bad things about Advanced Warfare initially, but now all I hear are good things haha. Maybe it's just the Zelda effect though... initially ill received but now people love it.

Yeah, I played Ghosts. I liked the campaign (although it rehashed cutscenes and plot devices left and right), and the multiplayer was fun, but I agree about the progression system. They've never done anything exactly like that since Ghosts.Xeogred wrote:Did you play Ghosts? The progression system was so awful, hope it's the only one like that.

Can't stop playing Titanfall 2!
I love how voice chat isn't much of a thing thesedays either, compared to the early 360/PS3 days when the kids were on COD4, Halo 3, etc. Phew, I don't miss that.

Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
With the release of Infinite Warfare I started to do a single player thing by playing through every release on the Xbox 360. Today I started with COD4 Modern Warfare and will end with Advance Warfare. That's a total of eight games.
In the first game in the list, COD4, I really enjoyed going through those famous missions such as the flashback with a ghillie suit and the AC 130 bit. Overall it's bringing back a lot of memories. Such a fantastic game.
I'm almost done with it and will move on to the next one, World at War. That is the one game I never played when it was first released.

World at War isn't that special compared to other WW2 shooters, but it's still a good, fun campaign. I'm one of the few who's not a huge fan of 4. It's good, but I think it's waaay overrated. I actually preferred MW2 over CoD4 or MW3 (didn't care much for the trilogy as a whole tbh).casterofdreams wrote:With the release of Infinite Warfare I started to do a single player thing by playing through every release on the Xbox 360. World at War had the Pacific Theater, one you don't see in WWII FPS a lot. I played it this year for Together Retro. Don't pass it up!

Would you believe that this is my first WWII fps game? I'm playing it now. The graphics, while art is based on a different time period, looks better than COD4. The game itself is brutal though. Not in difficulty but in the things you see and do.ExedExes wrote:World at War had the Pacific Theater, one you don't see in WWII FPS a lot. I played it this year for Together Retro. Here's what you do, take all the CoD's, take all their greatest campaign strengths and moments, COMBINE them... and what you get is still not even half the awesomeness of Titanfall's 2 campaign.
I just wrapped that up today, and CoD eat your heart out. It reminded me more of Doom (4) and Halo in the greatest ways, or like Killzone except without the quirks and vastly better. Valve like moments with crazy cool puzzles and gimmick abilities for some levels and a fantastic character that is a damn robot. The game is just oozing with simple fun and charm. Both the campaign and multiplayer are an absolute home run. Get it.

That's exactly how I feel about Titanfall's campaign, man. It's like the best parts of Killzone, Doom 4, Halo and COD rolled into one.
