I understand why people voted against Donald Trump. I see the concerns. I can't tell anyone how they're supposed to feel. But there are many, many factors that go into a person's vote. This year was one of those where, if he had a snowball's chance in Hades, I'd have voted for Evan McMullin. I still considered it. I didn't, though, because I am a realist. He didn't have a chance. And my vote could not go to Sec. Clinton. So I voted for Trump. There is a chance, however slim, that he will act on policy matters in a way keeping with my own views. There is also a significant chance that he will do some of the very same things that Sec. Clinton would have. He may end up being a disaster. We just don't know! There is a larger body of evidence that tells me how Sec. Clinton would govern, and that was unacceptable. So I took the risk.

As for regretting my vote, in a vacuum, sure I do. The lesser of two evils is still an evil. I don't regret it in the context of the only other realistic choice, however. I may very well have to answer that one day, either in this world or the next, but that time is not here yet.

I know I've stayed away from the internet today entirely and now am catching up. As annoyed as I was in this thread yesterday from the voice of the left in here, I wish I had written this post. This is where I was mentally on it and just did not articulate it at all, except I didn't vote, but I feel I'm still basically being made to feel complicit by not voting for a democrat who happened to be a woman who I found actually more vile on that whole cost matrix. The one difference here, I'm not religious, but even in that I don't feel abortion has any right to be entangled in politics so I avoid it completely. In the end a democrat in republicans clothing got the job, he may be a hot mess, and he may be as some verbal democrats have said quite acceptable and one who will work with them on pet projects they like (infrastructure, blue collar jobs, etc) and more (and I definitely don't see that guy making the bible the law of the land either.)

You keep saying he is a democrat. You clearly do not understand what a democrat is.

Thank you Exhuminator. I'm just tired of people who think they have the right to say or do anything they want while condemning the other side for similar behavior or less. It's not even anyone particular from here, well maybe one person I won't mention, but that's not important.

The mom said it was a joke and has apologized but this is not acceptable behavior from anyone. I'm posting more from this side since this board is well represented with people posting the other. With the media as crooked as it is it's hard to tell what is real and what isn't. Since the mom posted it on her own Facebook page I can run with it.

He's actually identified himself with the Democrat party a long time until recently when he decided he didn't like where the party is headed. What exactly is a Democrat to you because the Democrat party now is not one my dad would recognize and he was a staunch Democrat his entire life.

Thanks for the links, Exhuminator. It really has become hard to tell what's true or not. Faking things like this to score political points is absolutely despicable.

I read that Vox article not too long ago, and it was an absolutely fascinating read. It also made me question my own side as well, so I don't fall into the same trap. It's so easy to do. A few of my friends have some of the same contempt, and quite a few in the "GOP establishment" do as well.

Hillary, the DNC, and the media completely destroyed themselves. You reap what you sow. For an entire year straight they only fed us ONE story, one side, the entire venture. They were so full of themselves that this was in the bag. I mean seriously, were even pro Hillary fans sick of this constant one sided barrage? They literally beat America over the head with it. Too much. Nobody wants to be constantly told and scolded on what's right and what to believe, without any other options whatsoever. They demanded you believe this or else. They rigged their dirty game so hard they were chasing their own tail and well...

You can't trust FB, twitter, or the mainstream news. Which is a lot of content and surely a lot people still eat up. When I can only get alternate news from podcasts or youtube channels, if that's not cheating on the other side I don't know what is. But they couldn't even win cheating. Gameshark blew up their system.

I still wonder how Bernie vs Trump would have gone. But nah, Hillary and co turned their back on the majority youth that wanted Bernie and thought they were safe with their private investors and loyalists. Whelp... look where that got them. Next time democrats, consider the people before business.

Sorry, I'm just still so confused how a lot of my friends and others who were really into Bernie, so easily jumped right into Hillary's pocket after what they did to him. Not saying he was my guy. But the left brought about their own doom in my eyes.

Oh, as an interesting aside: that article mentions Walter Reuther. My great-uncle George Evans was the pilot that was killed in the accident that killed Reuther. It was found that the altimeter was installed incorrectly, with missing parts and one put in upside down. I never knew him, but I apparently had a strong resemblance to him.
