How ironic that one of the board's most stalwart Nintendo supporters seems the be the sole voice of dissent. Lol

Thanks for that list and release. I am limite with a broken laptop using my tablet and a mini keyboard here for awhile yet.

Still Nintendo has done name lists for decades and failed from the N64 Dream Team forward, but hey lets assume even half of those do HONEST support not Wii like or worse that is a HUGE level of upward support they have console lacked since the SNES other than the first half of the GC years.

I have to say that list has some notables including chronic Nintendo dbag haters at EPIC being on that list which Im shocked to see. Also taking from a console angle you see Square return among others. Bethesda and EA is a huge pick up if we get their big franchises on it and same with Capcom and Konami too. An interesting note would be the mobile developers on there known for good android and IOS games leaning more into how NintendOS appears to be a flavor of Android. Make it easy, and they will come.

It is a card based system as I said, no optical UMDs put that option to death with their instability plus it is in the video. if the system only has 32GB internally you have only 2 options here. You handle it either way like a tablet. You put what you want, then remove, and redownload later -- or it takes a system encrypted micro SD card for additional storage. Throw a 64-256GB whatever card in there and youre golden. Remember these games are going to be more mobile sized than blu ray.

Also that Nvidia link thanks. That plays sort of into what I was told backing up it is a Tegra system based device, but leaves you wondering Gen1(like this shield tablet I am on) or the cheaper, faster, smaller and cooler Gen2 chip. Id almost bet on the 2nd for power savings and cost since they wont talk and Im sure NOA NDAd them over it for now.

I have to say the name works, I was ilke eh for a few moments but having seen it pop up a few and watch the clip I like it. At least it has that and NINTENDO in the name again, total distancing from Wii and WiiU which they need badly to just bleach out the memory of that mistake.

It's seems kind of neat. I like the idea of being able to play on TV and on the go (although honestly I would play it way more on the TV lol). Also looks like they ditched the touch-based screen which I'm a fan of (don't like getting the screen all grubby). I'm not super sold on it yet though, but I think that's only because I really don't like these kinds of hype trailers with not much solid info for me to chew on.

I'm not entirely sure the touch screen is gone, actually. Even though they didn't show that functionality, I suspect this trailer was to get core gamers back in. Wouldn't surprise me if it actually uses a capacitive touch screen.

I give my kids 8 hours before the first controller is lost.

Still it is a neat gimmick. I'm in cautiously optimistic mode at this point.

Personally I hope it does but one of many big mysteries Id like answered I didnt get an answer on last I asked was the system OS. How far into Nvidia Shield tablet territory will this go? Total touch panel like WiiU-3DS has or not? Just games, streaming services for audio and visuals, eshop and little else -or- we going to see tablet like features from calendar, email, etc going on to some degree? I would think the more tablet functionality they ad the better stand of selling they have. If its just games then more gamers buy, but if its more gaming tablet like then you can get lost more interest for those wanting a swiss army tablet.

They also badly need to re do that eshop, the setup is crap. Not ery friendly to get around to find stuff unless you know the name, needs a nice setup like google play and ios have.

I like the idea, and this might be the first time in a long time I actually have interest in portable gaming... now I could bring a true-blue gaming device with me when I go on a trip, crash at my parents, etc.

Gripes:
*The name is rough... but I'm glad we're away from any "Wii" sounding names.
*The lack of touch based controls. While it looks like we're getting ports (?) of some big name Wii U releases, that seems to indicate no BC, though I may be wrong.
*I know nothing of what specs mean or if they've even been released, but will this compete with what Sony and Microsoft are doing, or is Nintendo going to be hitting its own audience as the main focus again?
*The pre-mentioned tiny controllers for split screen when gaming on the go. It appears regular controllers can be used, so does that mean two of the regular controllers could be used for split screen?

Happies:
*I honestly feel like this has been Nintendo's biggest push for third party support since the 'cube.
*Is that a new 3D Mario in the Mario 64/Galaxy/Sunshine style? Plz be yes.
*As rude as it may sound, I have the feeling this has had a lot of input from the younger crowd at Nintendo. While something more focused on the Japanese market (it seems, at least), that indicates a good turn IMO.
*Was the splatoon bit an indicator of Nintendo putting more support behind eSports? Possibly a positive.
*Nintendo stuff is usually cracked easily, and despite the side eyes I'm probably getting from some of you, the emulation potential and other potential there could be very welcome. (Seeing a Skyrim port- I may be wrong, but that could be potential for mods on console, past what Sony/Microsoft allow.)

Overall, I'm excited but cautious with what I've seen. I'm really interested in eShop and such, because they have a decent library already, but if Nintendo threw their weight around a bit, I think they could have one of the best download libraries available.

I think the name is kinda dumb too

Rest of it I think is too early to say. At something like $199? Day one. It could easily be twice that though. Similarly, they have a bunch of listed third parties, but for all we know it'll be a bunch of ports of 7th gen titles with the novelty of being able to play them on the go (probably what most of the launch lineup will be at least).

That said, I generally do like what I see there, since it doesn't seem to have a gimmick outside of being flexible. First time in a long time for Nintendo.
