E3 trailer:

Amazon:

It's the twilight era of the 3DS, and this might be Atlus' last hurrah for the platform in the US of the A.* So don't sleep on it. Unless you hate talking to demons and playing awesome RPGs.

*Unless by some miracle we get Etrian Odyssey V.

What is the difference between SMT IV and SMT IV: Apocalypse?

Apocalypse is a new game, but set in the same universe as SMT IV. It's sort of a "gaiden" or alternative storyline for the game. I'm pretty sure I'll pick it up eventually.

Actually, USGamer has a good writeup on it so far, so check it out!

I LOVED SMT4, so I've got it pre-ordered (got the e-mail that Amazon shipped it this morning), but it will probably be a while until I get around to playing through this one.

I'm getting SMTIV:Apocalypse in October at some point. I would get it this week but I spent my gaming budget for this week buying:

And I still need to pick up Psycho-Pass.

I don't know why all the publishers decided to release assloads of 3DS and Vita games right at the end of the year. I have a feeling though, that next year will be basically a drought for 3DS, as developers will be gearing up for NX. I think the Vita will continue to see domestic releases through 2017 and into 2018 though. It's got a solid niche demographic that pays the premium happily.

I enjoyed SMT4 for awhile but ended up feeling kind of lost after you can cross the river with those ghost horses and had that open park and stuff and I remember getting distracted and quitting on it -- I think it wasn't my thing. It does look like a nice spinoff side story to the title though. But as it is I've got DQ7 and I'd like to at least make better than a halfassed attempt at some real time on it -- hope I can motivate myself to play it at least an hour every day in the evening so I'll be off here shortly as I just killed that big head in the volcano on that 2nd island so it's fragment hunting time.

The map system was awful on the last game and i had the same problem of losing interest because of getting lost often. I heard that they revised the map system on Apocalypse so hopefully it won't have the same problem.

My copy of SMTIV: Apocalypse arrived today, which made me wonder; did anyone else here buy it other than me? If so, have you played Apocalypse yet... any thoughts?

I pre-ordered it, but I haven't played it yet. I'll probably make that my handheld game once I finish the two Trails of Cold Steel games (so it'll be a while...lol)
