At one time I had almost 2000 games separated by platform and alphabetically organized across multiple shelves.

I've got that whittled down to about 900 or so now, but still alphabetically organized by platform.

My OCD will not accept anything less.

You would hate my setup right now. I had my NES games sorted alphabetically, but then I started adding a lot to it, and things got... messy.

How do you sort your platforms? How about sequels on a platform that don't follow an alphabetical scheme, like Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: Adventures of Link? I'm curious since I have a similar level of OCD; I organize by platform, and platforms are grouped by company, and it's chronological, so it goes SNES, N64, GC, Wii, Wii U, Genesis, Sega CD, 32x, etc.

That bothered me for a while, too, with stuff like Wizards & Warriors. Seriously, why you gotta be all different, Ironsword?

My 2600 games are organized alphabetically by publisher, then chronologically by label variant, and then alphabetically by title. It looks awesome.

Everything else is organized chronologically by case/label variant and then alphabetically. (So, for Dreamcast games, I have all of my "white case" games in alphabetical order followed by all of my "black case" games.)

Stick to strict alphabetical order. This sometimes results in later games in a series appearing before earlier ones, but it generally works out.

I have shelves dedicated to one platform usually. I've got an entire shelf that is nothing but 360 games, another that is nothing but PC games, it's like that. As for chronologically positioning the shelves, that is ideal. Unfortunately I don't have room for that, so shelves end up where they can fit.

As prfsnl_gmr said, I keep it strictly alphabetical. Yes this causes sequels to sometimes precede their originators, but the OCD abides.

I really need to sort mine again, but I'm probably going to wait till I get a new place and can get enough shelves up to finally display it all.

Next time I do it I need to finally finish removing all the stickers as well. Last time I started to and after removing probably 500+ game stop stickers I gave up :P. I'm really good at cleaning all the games I resell, but when It's going in my collection I don't bother half the time since it doesn't bother me all that much, but it's something I really need to get around to doing

See, I have two warring sets of OCD around that. The worst is how I order Demon's Souls and Dark Souls in the PS3 section. I don't have anything that would fit in between the two. They aren't technically sequels, but their very spiritual sequels and it's clear that Dark Souls would have been Demon's Souls 2 if it weren't for Sony owning the rights to the name. I ended up having it go Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2. But I agonized over it for a while.
