Everything I've read suggests that the probably rights-holder has had offers made on this title and has essentially declared it's not worth it to them to verify of they are the current legitimate holder of the rights or not. NOLF is certainly the most prolific example, and I can't say I think there are lots of other titles like it, at least for PC. The console space is another whole can of worms, however.isiolia wrote:I bought (and played through) the NOLF games when they came out either way. Just saying, that's a commonly cited example, with writeups praising it around the internet. It probably wouldn't be a hard sell to get the rights, if/when they're established, since it'd make money.

I bought a new cheaper but decent "gaming" mouse and it's great and all... but the LED lights are obnoxious (considering my main PC/TV setup is in my bedroom). I can't figure out how to open it though and don't think there's anyway to turn it off.
I got it since it was similar to this wireless one I got recently as well, but you can turn off the LED lights with this one. It was a little finnicky at times though so I wanted something wired:

My Genesis component cables came in the mail yesterday from HD Retrovision. They look AMAZING. I'll write up a full review of them in my blog when I put in some more time with them, but it's TOTALLY worth the asking price IMO.

Ditto for the old MechWarrior games which have all sorts of legal issues attached to them. Thankfully I still own all of those.marurun wrote:You know, there are some games, like No One Lives Forever (NOLF), for which the rights are in limbo and unlikely to ever be cleared up, and as a result, they'll never see a GoG or Steam release.
There are also plenty of Windows games that nobody has gotten working on modern systems outside of virtual desktops.

The Activision ones are on the easier end of things, as it's pretty clear that Microsoft owns the license and Activision owns the code. The bigger impediment is MechWarrior Online; it seems like they've got some sort of agreement with Microsoft for there to only be a single first person mech simulation game available, so a rerelease of the MechWarrior 2 trilogy (not to mention any of the newer games) is unlikely as long as MechWarrior Online is a thing.Gunstar Green wrote:Ditto for the old MechWarrior games which have all sorts of legal issues attached to them. I do, but that doesn't help me with Sega CD or Sega 32X games.Xeogred wrote:I thought you had a Retron?ElkinFencer10 wrote:My Genesis component cables came in the mail yesterday from HD Retrovision. "I don't need a gaming PC."
*sees Mount & Blade II trailer*
"Uhh...hmm...I.. must resist..."
Love the look of the game, and I'm essentially going to hope it comes to console, but, I doubt it will, unless Warband sells well enough.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
so what is this Recore game? I know it's made by Comcept, but I don't really know anything about it. I think I assumed it was another MOBA-FPS hybrid like Overwatch or Battleborn but now I think I was really wrong. I've heard it compared to Metroid Prime (or maybe even Borderlands?) - so what the heck IS this game?
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Specifically, it's made by a team of ex-Retro / Metroid Prime staff. I think Comcept are just helping out a little here and there so it's not really their or Inafune's game.
It looks and sounds like a PS2 era action game. Not exactly in a bad way, but I hear it has some great ideas and some bad. Supposedly the game hits a grind wall around the 10 hour mark or something like that. I'd check it out if I had an X1.
