Class really only influences your starting gear and stats. You can develop your character in any direction you want to. Pyromancy is easy to do as a secondary thing, since it doesn't have stat requirements for spells (other than Attunement to equip more of them).
Definitely try out some different weapons as you get them. Different animations and reach that can suit different situations or just personal preference.
Get a bow and a good number of arrows when you can, as you can use it to get a nice sword (Drake Sword) early on that'll last you a while.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Be weary with Pyromancer... as I think it starts with higher DEX stats and a weapon? I think DEX sucks in these now.
... at least, my first Demon's run was with a spear which was insanely boring looking back on it, and I think I hate katanas in these. Bleed is fine and all, but I'd rather do way more damage upfront. I prefer STR builds and Greatswords.
Pyromancy itself though is definitely fun, and in DS1 and DS2 you don't have to worry about spending points in INT/Faith for it.
But yeah classes are pretty pointless in these in the grande scheme of things.
How much better is the combat over Witcher 3?

Re: RPG Progress Report
I did a DEX heavier build in DS1. Some weapons scale well off of it (like the Furysword, which is what I mostly used). STR is more common though.
Re: RPG Progress Report
Yeah, some of the late game weapons in all of these games that scale with DEX look pretty legit. It's just like... once I did STR and then some STR/Faith builds, there was no turning back for me.

Tales of Eternia
I think the English name for it is "Forest of Temptation," but that place is such utter, total wank. I HAD to look up a walkthrough, because there was a puzzle that involved just turning four statues one of three ways, all of which were in different locations in the forest, so an exhaustive check of each combination would've taken absolutely ages. I don't know if the solution was in a book I missed, or in one really minor piece of dialogue, but there wasn't even the slightest hint to the solution to that actually within the forest. It didn't exactly ruin my experience with the game, but it certainly made me sour :/
I just reached the capital, so I was able to gear up pretty well (finally). Three dungeons without an armor upgrade just felt so weird O.o . I also just got into the castle and had all of the cool scenes related to that, so I'm still enjoying my time

Fire Emblem if: Special Edition
I made the initial mistake of starting the game on hard (because I guess I'm too used to what Path of Radiance's hard-mode is like), which beat my ass and I couldn't satisfactorily beat chapter 4. Thus, I restarted on Normal mode, and now I'm up to chapter 6. I really like how they've done the narrative so far. I was really skeptical going in that they'd make the "good guys" and "bad guys" equally tempting to join, but I really do like the siblings on each side: It's a genuinely tough choice :/
I remember Popo Sensei's reviews saying that not only do you need to beat the game once to unlock the ability to play Revelations, but also that Birthright is the easier one. I don't really wanna do a backwards difficulty curve, so I'm leaning towards Birthright, then Conquest, then Revelations, but I think I'll sleep on it. Recommendations welcome for those who've tried all 3!

Re: RPG Progress Report
Dark Souls is fascinating. I have no idea where I'm going or what I'm supposed to be doing most of the time. But I am enjoying the scenery. Skeletons scare the pee out of me. They are brutal.
I went down this long well thing and found a watery area. There were these ghosts out on the water that I don't know what to do so I went and ran away.
What is Hollow? I gave up Hollow for Humanity. Is that wrong? I am very lost, but at least interested.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Being hollow basically means you get no invasions, as well as meaning you can't summon people in to help you with bosses. I don't believe being dying, and thus becoming hollow, reduced your max HP like it does in Demon Souls and Dark Souls II, so I basically played through the entirety of DS1 as a hollow, because invasions suck (and humanities are basically emergency full-heals).noiseredux wrote:Dark Souls is fascinating. And in case you don't wish to be spoiled on the ghosts area, I will put it in spoilers, even though I will try and speak as non-spoilery plot-wise as possible.

Re: RPG Progress Report
Skeletons are purposefully brutal because you're not supposed to go that way yet, that's how they tell you.
