Re: RPG Progress Report
Put a bit more time into Eternia today. I FINALLY figured out why the 2-bandits + 2 mages random battle keeps being so freaking impossible. You don't block magic like you can normal attacks, so I was like, "Well how the hell do I get to those guys, jump over them???" I found out by total accident that you can just run right through enemies if they're not attacking if you want to attack their back row guys! That will certainly make all of these 2D Tales games MUCH easier Xp

Re: RPG Progress Report
you ever play a game for a while and realize that you have not known about a very useful mechanic that you probably should have? I've been playing Witcher 3 for quite a while now. And I just found out that you can meditate... to regen some health. Wow. That would have been handy a lot of times before today. Wow. Ok. Well, good.

Fallout 3-4 does a great job of not telling you had to do things like this haha.noiseredux wrote:you ever play a game for a while and realize that you have not known about a very useful mechanic that you probably should have? I've picked back up on Xenoblade Chronicles X for a bit. Finally got a Skell. It's still not as good as the first game. Something still feels off with the combat, and the story so far is just not compelling at all. The world of Xenoblade just felt more... I dunno, interesting, different. Having it all occur on the backs of two giant entities made for some crazy impressive visual imagery, and I'd love to see that game get an HD update. Someday I'll emulate it in Dolphin and be amazed.

Yep, so sad to hear that, personally, a lot of stuff I've heard about X sounds underwhelming. But I have a friend willing to sell me his mint copy for half price so I'll get it sometime.Sarge wrote:I've picked back up on Xenoblade Chronicles X for a bit. Finally got a Skell. Re: RPG Progress Report
Everybody I know personally said X isn't as good as the original. But then again, that was some sky high stuff to live up to, let alone beat.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: RPG Progress Report
Yeah, I mean, it's still good, it's just not great. And for those that like their game to tilt even more into the MMO-style conventions, there's a good chance they'll like this one better.
Re: RPG Progress Report
Haha, I think you were doing hard mode on accident. I'm pretty sure on the harder difficulties you have to go to an inn or the like to get health back.noiseredux wrote:you ever play a game for a while and realize that you have not known about a very useful mechanic that you probably should have? Re: RPG Progress Report
self-imposed hard mode, haha. Well I'm glad I figured this out. I'm gonna start meditating like crazy. Oh, and Mitch: I'm planning to hit up Dark Souls once I'm done w/ Witcher 3.
Re: RPG Progress Report
I started playing Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. It is...different from the first one. I think part of it is the remaster (I haven't played the original release), but it does not seem nearly as well designed (granted, Dark Souls is kind of a master class in design). No Man's Warf annoyed me, so now I'm off exploring Huntsman's Copse. Trying to do more of a magic based build this time, since I was mostly melee in Dark Souls and Bloodborne (not like there's a lot of choice in the latter).
Seems like they just delight in tossing tons of enemies at you, and tacked on the "eventually they don't respawn" mechanic as compensation for not building enough shortcuts into the level design.
