I too have encountered the dreaded "10CP Pidgey Flee," so it's definitely a thing. The first time it happened I was Lvl 9 and so surprised I just sort of stood there for a few seconds like, "....Wat?"
I've had a few more do that as well (Suspiciously, all of them were 10CP Pidgey's. I no longer trust those bastards.), but otherwise I haven't seen what I would consider a drastic difficulty spike. But I do feel there are some, what I would consider, inconsistencies. For instance, I caught an over 800CP Pinsir today (Yay!), which only took two Great Balls and the Snorlax I caught last week only took one Great Ball. Meanwhile, I needed about seven to catch a rather troublesome Bellsprout over the weekend and it's CP was less than half that of the Pinsir and Snorlax. One would think that the higher the level of your character, the easier it would be to catch the weaker Pokemon, but I'm starting to get the feeling that that's not the case.

Re: Pokémon Go
The Pokémon aggressiveness has increased with the new update, yes.
My second 10km egg hatched today, got a far better Magmar with 1251 CP. He'll be a gym fighter now. 8 more eggs in incubators again!
Niantic spoke again tonight.
More communication as well as continued bug fixes and more features? Me like. I hear of a possible addition of Pokémon Centers being added to Pokéstops in a future update - how cool would that be?

Re: Pokémon Go
Agreed and they really should have those poke-centers for refresh and other useful things. It would make the most sense as they've been there since the beginning 20 years ago.

Re: Pokémon Go
Data miners have stated that there are personalities to each pokemon assigned in their data and they are labeled similar to the more modern pokemon games.
I have also noticed something that no one has mentioned and that i, some of my pokemon have blue circles around them when listed and there isn't any common factor between them all. I wonder what that means. There isnt a pattern to make it be a background image and the follow the pokemon when the list is jumbled.

Re: Pokémon Go
I'm really enjoying this game! Haven't had so much fun playing a game on this level in a long time. Just the aspect of going out with friends whom I rarely get to see to hunt pokemon is amazing. Also a fantastic game to play and go on walks with the girlfriend.
I finally just hit level 23 last night thanks to 2 lucky egg's and a crap ton of pidgey and weedle evolutions. My highest level pokemon is now Vaporean at CP 1624. Also caught 2 cubones last night which was exciting since I never saw him before. This morning I had an electrobuzz in my area but I couldn't find him. My pokedex is now at Caught:94 and Seen: 96. The 2 that ran away and I was never able to catch later were Wartortle and Electrobuzz. Also have a slowbro in a gym that's been going for about 16 hours, that's my personal best so far so hopefully he can last enough time to collect another 10 coins.
Do any of you guys have really good spots to hunt? I live near downtown Toronto and there's an insanely good place right by one of our ferry crossings on the lake. It has about 10 pokestops all within short walking distances of each other and 6-8 of them have 24/7 lures. It is a pokehunters dream haha. In the span of 2 days I have caught over 100 magikarp there (currently have 500 magikarp candies, just waiting for the perfect magikarp to level up into a Gyarados!) as well as a farm for other pokemon like Poliwag, Jigglypuff, Clefairy, Machop, Eevee, Staryu, Psyduck, Dratini, Seel, Slowpoke, and Goldeon. Some other rares I have seen there (but aren't necessarily common) are Pikachu, Cubone, Golduck, Polywrath, Slowbro, Ponyta, Tentacool, and Rhyhorn. Anyways, this place is making big news in headlines recently since 100's if not 1000's of Pokemon Go players flock their per day and are sadly causing huge traffic congestion in the area as well as, unfortunately, leaving their trash everywhere and creating a huge mess for the city. The city has sent a letter to Niantic pleading with them to move the pokestops out of there and are planning to set up a "geo fence" from blocking the app from working. It really bugs me that pokemon go players can be so oblivious and lose care for our city like that.
Here's a picture of the spot if anyones interested:
EDIT: While typing this post out I caught a Porygon!! Sweet! I never saw him before

The blue circles simply mean the Pokémon was a recent catch. You can sort your list out by "Recent" and you should see many blue circles.
Also, the Eevee "naming" evolution trick only works once per Eevee. I tried it again to hopefully get another Jolteon with over 1000CP but it ended up being a Vaporeon which isn't as good as the one I have now.
As for super dense Pokéstops, I've already described my few locations, occasionally one of them will have a Lure Module on, but otherwise I use them for quickly restocking.

Re: Pokémon Go
I know Pokemon have levels that are hidden from players. Higher level Pokemon have a higher CP max. So you can have a low level Pidgey that caps out at 300 cp or a high level Pidgey that tops out at 500 cp. but I don't think level constrains the low end. Meaning you can find high level Pidgeys with the whole range of cp values. A 10 cp Pidgey could be level 1 to infinity, but a 200 cp Pidgey is at least level 8, or something like that. I don't know the details of the numbers.
When you are a low level player you find lower level Pokemon with a very low cp ceiling. When you are higher levels you find more high level Pokemon, and regardless of cp, those higher level Pokemon are harder to catch.

Re: Pokémon Go
As to that one question, no, but I wish I did know of a local area that was hot for picking up new stuff and good variety. Only one area around here, one of the 2 malls, has like 10 pokestops inside, but the usual overly common junk seems to just fester there by random bad luck or server intent.
The times I've found an odd ball one off has been in random street locations.

Re: Pokémon Go
New tweet from the official account:
Trainers, a new bug affecting throw accuracy increases the odds of escape and omits the XP bonus. We are working on a fix, stay tuned...
So not only was there a bug for no more XP for Nice/Excellent (which we all figured out), but that also made them get out of the balls more!
I would say that would be the reasoning for *more* escapes, not necessarily the "high level trainers lose more Pokémon than low level" theory, because marurun is correct, each Pokémon also has a level that correlates with your level and its CP.

Re: Pokémon Go
Well at least they're acknowledging publicly it was broke costing people pokeballs. I wonder if they'll throw some into peoples pockets since I'm sure you have some fools out there buying them.
I had an egg bust open earlier, magnemite which was a new one for the pokedex.
