I love reading about all your adventures, you guys. :)

Here's what I wish (and do let me know if this is actually slated happen): I want Nintendo to create a bare-bones standalone device for Pokemon Go that comes with its own data plan. Instead of having to pay a cell carrier for data, I would pay Nintendo some small amount, like $5 or $10 a month, as basically a subscription charge.

The devices would obviously be designed to look like the Pokedexes from the different mainline games.

This plan makes even more sense as you consider the fact that young children who don't have phones yet will want to play. It will also cut down on privacy concerns, since your Pokedex Go won't have any other apps or personal information on it.

I'm not in it for the battling or the socializing... I just want to be able to go for walks around the graveyard near my house, which is a pokestop, and do my solo trainer thing. (Guess who's going to be using her pokewalker today?)

Also, if they come up with some kind of real-world process for shiny hunting, holy hell guys, I might as well sell my house and live out of a backpack.

Come on, Nintendo. Make Key's dreams come true.

So I found a wild Pidgeot in my front yard the other day. CP 26. I was like "Seriously? I've caught a dozen Pidgeys significantly stronger than this." I caught it anyway just for the lulz (and the stardust).

Key, T-Mobile has added pokemon go to their data free service. So, like with netflix, you can play Pokemon Go without using data.

An alternative might be to pick up a pre-paid device with very low data. When I look at my cell data usage, I'm going to guess I could be using up to 200 MB / month in cellular data. That's with good use of wifi to help keep data use down. There are prepaid plans with about 100 - 200 MB of data that range around $15 to $16 a month and use either the Sprint or T Mobile networks.

For now I'd stick to the Hydro with wifi and just decide AR isn't worth it (because it isn't).

Or maybe it's time to re-evaluate your primary cell phone usage and decide to step up to a smart phone for daily use.

Did a ton of evolutions today. I now have Poliwhirl and Exeggcutor (over 1100CP!) That took me to halfway on Level 17. More to come, except I missed an ARBOK today thanks to ball capture freeze #199.

At least the stops have been good in giving me the balls I need. I'll eventually have to get some more of them with the coins.

The flagpole gym is back in Valor's hands with 3 good defenders there.

Again I will point out you don't need a lot of data to play this game. It's surprisingly light there. MetroPCS is a fine option, even with the $30 1GB plan, data is unlimited because after the 1GB is up you just won't be using 4G data until next month, it's also on the T-Mobile network which has performed well ehre.

The game is being a butt again at the moment. But it did give me a couple solid hours of gameplay earlier today. Since it was being so cooperative, I went downtown to do a little walking. I stopped at a couple Poke Stops and battled at a couple of Gyms so I could see how the battling worked (I had no delusions of winning, I was far too under-leveled.)

Then I swung by the playground where I noticed somebody had placed a Lure. There was a bench nearby with a guy who had to be close to his 40s sitting on it and watching a couple of kids. As I approached, a Magikarp popped up next to the Stop. I heard him say, "Another Magikarp?" Then he looked up and saw me and was all, " What? I'm not catching Pokemon. "

Anyway, thanks to all the walking around, I was able to stock up a bit on supplies, watch a nearby Gym switch hands three times in less than an hour, gain enough experience to level up to 9, catch about 20-some-odd Pokemon and hatch two eggs. New Pokemon include:

Exeggcute
Magikarp (only 134 more until I can evolve one  )
Tangela (Yay!)
Staryu
Electabuzz (my 10k egg hatch :o )

I currently have in my inventory 1 Lucky Egg and a 1 Lure Module. I also have a frack-ton of Pidgey's and Pidgey candy, several Weedles and a handful of Rattatas on hand and ready to evolve. Come next week, Pokemon Go servers willing, I'm going back downtown, stocking up on Pokeballs, then parking my butt on a bench near a Stop, planting a Lure, activating that Lucky Egg and then catching and evolving to my little hearts content. I'm hopping by then I'll also be close to another egg hatch :)

There a web site out there yet that explain all the mechanics?

I'm talking even the basics from leaves popping up to what those little feet in the index of the local pokemon of the area means up to the math behind how many candy you need to evolve or when the best time to do so would be?

I'd like to read up on the details on everything so I can make more sense with it as I just don't have the time or ability to go all over on foot to pick up on the minute details.

I don't know about a website, but I can answer a couple questions.

As far as I know, the leaves rustling around don't mean anything. Your indicator of what's nearby is the Nearby tab on the bottom right of the game screen. The little 'feet' under the Pokemon listed are an indicator of distance. No feet means the 'mon should be right there. Give it a couple seconds and it should pop up. One foot means it's close by. Two means it's a little farther away. Three feet means it's even further away. When you open the tab, the 'mon on the top left is the closest to you. When you minimize the tab, the closest to you is the furthest image to the right.

As for how far those 'feet' indicate, distance wise, no one is really sure. Some think it has to do with distance indicated by the pulsating circle that surrounds your avatar, some say it's a specified distance, but no one knows for sure and the developers haven't commented as far as I know.*

The candy you need to evolve is one each 'mon's detail page. I don't know if there's an index page somewhere for all of them. As for when to evolve, That's up to you. Personally, I'm waiting for a time to use my Lucky Egg, which gives double experience for 30 minutes. Activate Egg, start evolving to get 1000ex per evolution, level up like crazy...Profit.

Hope that helps a smidge.

*Note, for the past two days, I've seen nothing but 3 little 'feet' under each Pokemon on my Nearby tab. So I'm not 100% sure the Nearby tab is working as it should. May have something to do with the server issues, but I'm not sure. It still seems to be accurate, as far telling you as which Pokemon you're closest to, but I was running into things without the feet ever decreasing below 3 today, so not sure what's going on there *shrugs*

These two Pokémon related Reddits have really helped me out -

The Silph Road
Pokémon Go

As far as the constant 3 feet on the Nearby screen, it appears to be a bug. It's supposed to be 1-3, but right now it's showing *all* Pokémon as far away. I missed a chance at a Vulpix and a Parasect yesterday for those reasons.

Magikarps are in 2km eggs, and remember that hatches give more candy, so you might hit that 400 candy limit soon.

I got another Sandshrew from a hatch tonight, and it's slightly better.

I'll be doing another item purchase soon too, so I can equip up for bigger things. A lot of people are saying that once you reach level 20, there's not much else to do. But I'll continue to find stuff to do. There's a whole big world out there!

Have you guys seen the rumours that there are 4 region locked pokémon who are only available in specific continents?

Mr.Mime - Europe
Tauros - North America
Farfetch'd - Asia
Kangaskhan - Australia (not sure if it's the entire Australasian continent or just the country of Australia)

EDIT: Seems like it's probably just another stupid rumour. Man, this really is like playing Pokémon Red and Blue back in the day with the amount of dumb rumours. I wonder if Mew is under a Truck or in a guy named Bill's back garden.

There are also 6 currently unavailable Pokémon. 5 of them are the legendaries, which is unsurprising (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo and Mew). The 6th one is, oddly enough, Ditto.
