Lastly do I need to grab both New Super Mario Bros and New Luigi Bros plus the combo pack to count as having a full retail set or is one of them ok? Same with Wind Waker and Rodea. Do I need both copies of each game?I'd like to find Ducktales: Remastered with the pin and apparently there are three different versions of Splinter Cell. I don't really want one let alone all three.
Regarding Mario, I would get a copy of New Mario and and a copy of New Luigi and skip the combo pack altogether.

I don't count combo releases unless they feature something unique that the standalone versions don't have. And given the choice between individual releases and combo packs, I'll always take the individual ones.

Same goes for the other games you mentioned (though I'm unaware of what the different releases actually are and I can't find any info about them). Unless the game itself is somehow different, than amassing multiple copies with say, different covers, is just redundant. That's money better spent on filling out the rest of the collection. I say pick one of each.

That's just what I think though, feel free to ignore me.

Yeah, I was just generating discussion. Valid points and something I want to decide before I decide whether to pull the trigger on a full collection or not.

I, personally, really enjoy collecting for Nintendo consoles, and I get no real enjoyment from "collecting" digital games.

I don't particularly enjoy "collecting" digital games either but if it's the only way to play some of them then by all means I'll grab them, especially when on sale. I do wish Limited Run or a similar company would do Wii U games though. I'd probably buy every one of them.

That would be awesome! I was pretty bummed that it never got a physical release here in North America.

The Runbow physical release I'm less sure about. The game is fantastic... but after buying digitally my interest in double-dipping becomes very small. Maybe I'd buy the 3DS version to have a portable edition? Or maybe the Wii U disc will include some kind of extra, exclusive content? Keeping my fingers crossed.

Minecraft fell into the same boat, where I'd love to have the physical version with Nintendo stuff included on disc just for collection purposes. But there's no way I'm paying $60 total for Minecraft considering how little I care about the game. (It's a good game, but it's not really a game for me.)

Same here. I've got a sealed Japanese copy that I got as part of an eBay lot with every other game in the series, so I've had it on my shelf just to have a physical copy, but I'd gladly sell that off and buy one that I can actually play instead (even if I do have the full game downloaded on my Wii U).
