What RPG are you playing right now?
Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
I guess I never really gave PE2 a fair shot. I never really liked the Resident Evil-styled games of that era.

It took me a while to get into The 3rd Birthday and I still wish we had gotten something closer to the first two games. But once you figure out the mechanics and really get them intuitively it gets much better than on first impression.

Final entry in the Dunjonquest series (not counting the remakes) and a tough sonofa. Pure dungeon crawling madness.
The only installment in cartridge form so it's actually easy to play this one today.
I've made it about a third of the way through. The field of view is kinda limited and the enemies get really aggressive.
Pretty epic game (more like an epyx game amirite?)

I see you're challenging my crusty CRPG achievement earlier this year.
That's awesome though, good luck!

Started up Dragon Warrior II tonight. The introduction is hilarious.
You play as the prince of Midenhall. Your father, the king, sends you out to save the world. Alone. He does, however, give you...a copper sword and 50 gold. Oh, and if you need to heal up, you can stay at the inn down the street. Gee...thanks, dad...are you trying to tell me something?

Dude, a Copper Sword was the height of luxury compared to your start in Dragon Quest 1.

I started up Dragon Quest II last night as well. Then I turned it off and started up Dragon Quest IX. I'll get to Dragon Quest II eventually, but honestly I'm far more interested in Dragon Quest IX for now.

True...but in DQ, I am just another random person in a long line of wannabe heroes being sent to his death. In DQII, I am the prince! And, to add insult to injury, they won't even let me into every room in the castle! WTF, dad?!MrPopo wrote:Dude, a Copper Sword was the height of luxury compared to your start in Dragon Quest 1.

I'd scold you, but DQIX is one of my favorite games. It plays very similarly to DQIII - which I also adore - and I dropped over 125 hours into it before forcing myself to put it down (and I only scratched the surface of the totally awesome optional content).Exhuminator wrote:I started up Dragon Quest II last night as well. I first picked up Disgaea: Hour of Darkness back in 2003. I have played through the game a few times but never got past the 75% point before wandering off.
I don't know what's different this time but thanks to the power of PSTV, the superb PSP version of this game, and not getting bored - I am finally on the final battle of the normal storyline.
- of course, I also need to grind for like 2 hours to stand a chance but hey, NIS right?

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
