Yeah, basically this.

I haven't played a great deal so far, but aesthetically speaking and gameplay speaking, it looks and feels more like a Persona kinda game. I don't feel any kind of FE vibe from it at all, although I've been playing for like 20/30 minutes and I'm not a big FE player anyways (literally only played the first 3DS game...)

Elkin should buy me Devi's Third.

I wonder as a huge Ninja Gaiden (Xbox) fan if it has some of Itagaki's signature elements in there and I kind of like good B-grade action games sometimes, but I guess nowadays $50 seems like too much of a gamble for me. The only issue with this game being that it's probably the cheapest price point it'll ever be at with its limited print run. I've watched some videos and I can't tell if I'd like it or not. lol

I will be grabbing a copy.
I almost always see eye to eye with the folks at NintendoLife on games, so that review is a big plus for me. This will almost certainly be the next game that I play.
I do as well and I value their opinion since they actually seem to be fair and aren't afraid to call out Nintendo for questionable decisions or games.

I don't have a problem with the Japanese voice acting in TMS, I think it'll be interesting.

Is the Special Edition going to be limited like Fire Emblem was? If so I'm glad I pre-ordered it like I did FE.

I haven't seen much talk of the new Paper Mario: Color Splash around, but I just wanted to say my two cents. It looks fun, and colorful, and great because it's on the Wii U this time around instead of the 3DS. But it really looks like they're reusing ALL of the decisions I hated from Sticker Star! Still no proper companions and only a floating friend who keeps you on story track. Still using STICKERS which were a system I hated because normal combat felt like an awful waste of resources, not to mention time with no level-up system.

I wanna be excited, but it's very hard to be excited for a continuation of the Paper Mario I felt was far and away the worst of the series.

(Haven't tried Paper Jam yet btw, though I've heard that's much more Mario & Luigi than Paper Mario.)

I heard a lot about it on the Giant Bomb podcast, one of them got to see it behind curtains or something. Sounds amazing, but I've not been super into the Paper series so I can't really make comparisons. But the card usage system sounds a bit odd, and I guess it doesn't have levels and some RPG elements which bugged one of the guys talking about that, but I guess another newer game in the series ditched that. They were thinking they probably want to ditch that stuff and keep the Mario & Luigi series more on the traditional RPG side.

It is weird Nintendo didn't show it off publicly. Sounds like it might be the last U game or something.

I thought Sticker Star was fine. The combat was balanced very well, and I really enjoyed the decision-making as far as how to efficiently use your stickers. I liked it a good bit more than Dream Team, and even though Paper Jam was good, I think I liked Sticker Star better than that, too.

Unpopular opinion time: I'm not entirely sure The Thousand-Year Door is the pinnacle of that series. I think I actually like the original a bit more.

I'm presently (albiet slowly) playing through Dream Team myself, so I will soon have an opinion to compare to your own ;p

I guess part of the reason I disliked Sticker Star so much was that they returned to form from Super Paper Mario and went back to turn-based battles. However, with no companions, the game just felt so empty. I felt somewhat betrayed that my other favorite part of the series had been totally done away with. The companions add so much to the character and charm of the first two games. Especially considering how there's virtually no towns in Sticker Star (that I remember), and how Mario is kind of a non-character, it just sorta felt devoid of character. At least in Super Paper Mario you got to have Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser to go around with, even though you were stuck with butterfly girl the whole game. Perhaps I shall pick it back up if I can find it for $20-ish soon.

Why do you think the original Paper Mario is better? I've never really been able to pick a favorite between the original two.

Just an FYI but Amazon has Guitar Hero Live on sale for $25 and change for anyone who wanted this but didn't like the original price.

So I'm toying with the thought of going after a complete retail set of Wii U games. I have 50+ of the currently 140+ games that currently exist. With my GameCube collection down to only a handful of games wanted and the Wii, still going strong, getting closer I find myself grabbing more Wii U then anything else. Part of me has always wanted to try for a complete set of something but there is also a bunch of shovelware, not nearly as much as the Wii, but a smaller percentage due to a much smaller library.

Anyone able to back me off the cliff or give me a big shove overboard? Currently I have about 20 more games I want, some of which aren't out yet, but I don't think it would be hard to get myself to go all the way. Other then Devil's Third and the Wind Waker and Rodea LE's, which I want to get anyway, I have all of the more expensive stuff though I'm not going after the World of Nintendo store exclusives.

With the move to digital games and online servers required to fully enjoy games, you'll probably never have a better opportunity to go for a complete library of games that will (mostly) stay playable going forward.

I've thought about trying to complete the Wii U library also... but couldn't justify buying so many games that I don't actually want to play.
