1. Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe
2. Fantastic Four Season One
3. Batman The Long Halloween

Just finished this one that SB lent me via Kindle (thanks dood!). I found the first issue kind of slow moving, and at first I felt like trying to keep all the crime family members straight was kind of confusing. But as things start to get going, it gets way more gripping. The stuff with Catwoman is great. And I loved the Two Face origin story parts. When I watched The Dark Night I had found Dent to be a really compelling character. Tragic really. I also thought the ending w/ Dent's wife was pretty shocking. A bit of a gut-punch. Ultimately, I thought this was a very cool book with some great art.

This came up in the "Comic Book Video Game" thread:

I've just never been a fan of Superman. :|
That makes Red Sun even more interesting, because it both is and isn't the same Superman who would ordinarily bore you to tears with his generic-ness.
I really dislike Superman. He's boring; he's over-powered; he's a boy scout. Superman has the personality of wallpaper.

That said, Red Son by Mark Millar is a fantastic comic book. I would even go so far as to say this is the best Superman comic book I have ever read - even better than "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow" by Allen Moore.

Read this one, Noise. You won't regret it.

well, that's certainly a glowing review since basically all that stuff you said about Superman is why I've never been into him. I'll add it to my list.

But for now - probably gonna knock out a couple of shorter Marvel things I have in mind.

3. Batman The Long Halloween
4. The Amazing Spider-Man "Spider-Man No More!"
5. The Batman Adventures Mad Love

we took some time off work to get some projects done around the house. Between yard work and running errands and cleaning the basement and garage, I found time to knock out a couple of single issue comics on my tablet.

I had been wanting to read Issue 50 of Amazing Spider-Man as I understand it was the inspiration for the second recent movie. I enjoyed it a lot. It really shows the sort of emotional side of Spidey. And also his age I suppose. That sort of push-pull between dealing with stress of responsibility and shrugging it off. The balancing act of dealing with finding time for friends, family, romance, fun, work... it's certainly a universal dilemma.

I wanted to read Mad Love for Harley's origin story in anticipation of Suicide Squad. I was mixed on this one, but mostly it was very good. I thought the story was great, the storytelling was great, the tone was great, the writing was great. But I don't like the artwork. It has a very kid-cartoon quality to it. I prefer a more realistic art style. But I thought everything else was awesome enough to look past that.

I have found over time that everything Mark Millar, Brian Michael Bendis, or Brian K Vaughn writes is gold.

I hate the fallout that came after House of M, but I enjoyed the House of M comic itself.

House of M really had two goals: winnow down the ridiculous number of mutant characters and possibilities (needed doing) and try to check Fox a bit. Marvel's been trying for quite a while now to get Fox to give up on the X-men and throw it back, either for new negotiations (pre-Disney) or for Disney to make movies with.

Having read Fantastic Four Season One, I was looking forward to this. I know the Season One books didn't get especially glowing reviews, but they're kind of neat in my opinion. Having read much of the originals when I was younger, I kind of like revisiting the origin stories in a new light. The Hulk story was really good and rather tragic. All that stuff about repression - it's heavy. The bonus "where are they now" segment is "Asunder Part One" and was definitely a big change from the early story. But the art in that one was phenomenal.

The Sandman: season of mist
We finally got one of the most impressive stories about the God of dreams the Morpheus. About how I'm descended into hell to save the woman he loved. And how the hell Lord Lucifer left his post, and the gods of all the pantheons participated in the auction for his place. It was this that laid the Foundation for spin-off "Lucifer", which is the irony, appeared in Russian before.
And in the same year, "ABC" was released and the fifth volume, "the Game of you," the story of the world "Sandman", in which Morpheus is not the main hero.
