The PC version of Ys 6 is utter dog shit. The PS2 version is perfection.

Also, No More Heroes 2 takes everything good from the first game and rams a bat to it's kneecaps. It sucks. Their should never have been a sequel.
EDIT: Also, the PS3 remake of the original game destroys the art direction. It should be avoided at all costs.

I agree with you about the PS3 port, but I enjoyed No More Heroes 2. It wasn't as good as the original game by a long shot, but I was glad that they got rid of the pointless motorcycle pseudo-open world crap.

Ys VI has a host of issues regardless of the port. The dash jump is the dumbest thing ever and some of the dungeons are just ass (like that subterranean cavern area). Of the numbered gamed I'd say IV: Mask of the Sun, V, and VI are the worst.

Oh and Ys III RULES. This seems to be an unpopular opinion.

LentFilms, I would like to know why you think Ys VI is better on PS2?

The pseudo-open world was better then "the menu" in 2. You could collect Lovikov Balls and explorer an, admittedly empty, city in the first.
No More Heroes 2 didn't fix the open world, it just removed it and put a menu it it's stead, which isn't an improvement.

The original game had a clean, semi-cellshaded look. It was a very stylish Wii game. The PS3 version looks like it was compiled with template graphics from the Unreal Engine (Even though it wasn't made in Unreal Engine).

PS2 version made everything 3D (instead of being a 2D/3D hybrid). This enabled everything to have true 360 degree analog movement (as appose to the octagon movement of the PC). Also, everything was voice acted in the PS2 version along with an extra dungeon.

I thought the PS2 3D models looked boring compared to the 2D hand drawn sprites of the original.

Now that's a fair point.

The voice acting I don't care about, but the extra dungeon is nice ("Alma's Trials").

You know what sucked about the PS2 version though? All the blood and gore was removed. No more exploding enemies into chunks of blood spurting gibs and trails of goo. I also appreciated in the PC version that you could raise the resolution far higher than what the PS2 supported, as well as having superior and more consistent frame rates.

I actually really agree with you on this. It's a bit different from most US platformers, but once you find your relationship with the game it's quite fun. And despite the chunky scrolling, the PCE version is really the best console port.

Say what you will about the look of the sprites (personally, I think the sprites look like a free-to-play MMO), however, the 3D models make everything move smoother. The game is just more fun to play with analog controls.
