Suicide Squad trailer looks really good.
Hoping to see TMNT2 this weekend.

Watched The Wolverine today. Not a very strong movie, but there were still some good parts. Mostly Japanese actors for the Japanese parts, speaking fluent and largely appropriate Japanese, rather than short, hackneyed phrases all the time. I like that bit a lot. The entire film did feel rather unnecessary, though. It doesn't really add anything to the Xmen movie universe.

Well it was at least better than Origins, which is definitely X3 tier to me. Insanely bad. Hell, isn't that the one that had Fake Deadpool?

I liked The Amazing Spider-Man more than I thought I would. I still think I probably prefer Raimi's origin story film, but I thought Garfield fit the role well. He felt like a more believable teenager and all. I'm split on the love interest thing... I love Emma Stone. Huge fan. But I felt it kind of jarring to just have Gwen here and just disregard Mary Jane in the origin story. And I mean, Dunst was awesome in that role. Overall though, I enjoyed this a lot and look forward to the second. Oh! And I liked that Flash's character was in there hinting at the possibility of Venom getting more screentime in the future. Maybe?

I think they've officially scrapped the Amazing Spiderman series so sadly 2 is it which sucks given the ending and the fact that the story surrounding Peter's parents wasn't finished.
Here is a pretty quick break down by Looper on Youtube.

...Gwen Stacy was Peter Parker's original love interest. She was killed off in the comic in 1973 in part so Mary Jane could become the new love interest. Mary Jane actually started as a joke for Aunt May to try to set Peter up with.

oh man really? I had it backwards then. For some reason I thought Mary Jane was the original interest and that Gwen came about when MJ died. Damn. It's been a while I guess.Ack wrote:...Gwen Stacy was Peter Parker's original love interest. She was killed off in the comic in 1973 in part so Mary Jane could become the new love interest. So yeah. Nevermind. I guess this actually is a better retelling than I initially thought all in all.

Emma Stone >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dunst...
I actually enjoyed both those Spiderman movies. And frankly the Raimi ones have aged terribly. But nah, gotta keep rebooting super hero movies! I think they were planning to do a lot with Venom.

Yes. The Wolverine is a freaking masterpiece compared to X-Men Origins and even The Last Stand (that movie has actually gotten worse!)Xeogred wrote:Well it was at least better than Origins, which is definitely X3 tier to me. Insanely bad. Hell, isn't that the one that had Fake Deadpool?
I agree that The Wolverine is not that strong of a movie ... and it's somewhat frustrating that they wasted so many Jackman performances on garbage. But, the Unrated cut has a pretty sweet ninja fight ... even if the other extra footage contradicts the original footage that's still in the movie.
I feel like the whole X-verse of movies is at a pretty good point to pack it up and ship that license back to Marvel ... but I have the fear that Fox thinks First Class and Deadpool have officially put it back on top and are prepared to milk it to a second death. It's going to get messy and convoluted and very very cheesy. I'm really not looking forward to it all. Which sucks, X-Men is one of my favorite comics.
