What was the last movie you've seen?

this might be funny, but I haven't had a library card in like 10 years. Since I always go with my wife, we just put everything on hers. Mine expired way back and I just never renewed it. BUT, now I really want to do so because I've realized these services that let you link your card online and you can digitally borrow movies, books, music, etc. Pretty awesome.

Ya'll want to see something really cool?

Think of something you might be interested in reading or watching, type it in, and let fly. You can find the closest library that holds it.

For example, there is a public library roughly 4 miles from my current location that has a copy of Hellraiser for rent. I have to go 5 miles for the original Friday the 13th and 6 miles for Child's Play.

However a copy of From Beyond? 76 miles.

I have in the process discovered some of my local libraries have interesting horror film collections. Also the University of Georgia has a copy of Maniac Cop. Huh.

I just discovered these services this year. Now I have a bunch of library apps on my tablet. I love them. All you need is a library card, and there's no additional advertising crap like most other "free" things online:

OverDrive: for e-books and audiobooks
https://www.overdrive.com/

Hoopla: for movies, music, and comics
https://www.hoopladigital.com/

Zinio: for magazines
https://www.zinio.com/

LibriVox: for free public domain audiobooks (this doesn't require a library card)
https://librivox.org/

Archive.org: a huge website of all media
https://archive.org/

Browser Games ... Free PC Games ... Mixtapes ... Doujin Games ... SotC Poetry

Archive.org I've been visiting forever, but yeah I just stumbled on Hoopla this week as well. It was the comics thing that caught my eye. Fast had recently mentioned Overdrive in another thread as well. So yeah, I'm planning to throw these on my tablet as well. :D

I think REPO Man opened a can of Book Worms!

The University Library branches are another great source. Some are even open to the public, fortunately my kids are in college so I can get in at the student access only branches. I found the TLC series (before they went to all reality shows) Connections. Really an outstanding documentary series, but pricey online. The Universities carry obscure items such as this. Libraries as well carry unique titles, classics, foreign films and new releases easily delivered to the local branch.

Last night, my wife and I watched a great horror film:

Rigor Mortis (2013). It is a spiritual successor to the Mr. Vampire horror/comedy films, but this version leans much harder toward horror. The setting and atmosphere are incredibly creepy; all of the characters are well-developed; and the villains - based on Chinese folklore - are fascinating. (Jiangshis have never been more terrifying!) It is currently streaming on Netflix; it is totally awesome; and I highly recommend it.

Connections is an original BBC production. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connectio ... _series%29 Needless to say, James Burke is awesome.

I'm in Ohio. I work at an Ohio university. I also live near a Clevnet library branch. This means I can get anything I want from all over the state and have it delivered to my work place, from all the colleges and universities in Ohio and some of the largest public library districts. Further, if I go to the Clevnet branch nearby I can get anything else in the area that's not part of that vast state network. I have read SO many comic books in the past few years, because having almost anything you want delivered to you at work is decadent.

If I remember correctly, it was Alien 3. I think it's a pretty good movie. It's not as good as the first two, but for me it still has that certain feel... And the soundtrack is awesome!
