Well, Killing Floor 2 is having another bonus experience weekend. Last night I hit level 23 with Firebug, and I'm close to level 24. I might just max him out in the next week and then focus entirely on other classes for a while. I also rounded out beating all the levels on Hard, so with that, I'll be moving him up into Suicidal difficulty full time.

The expansions for FEAR are awesome as well and I highly recommend them.

F3ar(Fear 3) however is a colossal shit stain of a game. I put it back in my backlog after playing the first lvl. About the only thing worthwhile would be the co-op but in order to play the second character you have to complete the game so your options are quite limited if you just want to run through with a buddy :P.

I also find it hilarious how FEAR 2 took the idea of a game making you it's bitch and made it a reality. Story spoiler:
Alma literally rapes you in the final scene  .
I don't think FEAR 2 is bad, per se, but I felt it was really disappointing coming off of the first game. FEAR 3, however, as has been said, is a steaming pile of shit that should be avoided at all costs.

I look forward to FEAR 2 once I get to it, but for now, I'm ok with waiting a while for it. I finally cleared the expansions to the first FEAR last year, so I am good to keep going for now.

What surprises me is how much I have heard wonderful things about Blake Stone over the years, yet none of you guys have told me to go play those yet.

I played them last year when I got the 3D Realms Anthology. They're great games. I used to play them so much back in high school. Like sci-fi Wolfenstein.

They're interesting games that do some cool things for their age. They're sci-fi Wolf 3D with a dash of James Bond. The biggest thing they had going against them was Doom coming out at the same time.

Their weakness is their engine. It has the same issues as Wolf 3D, labyrinthine levels with the same handful of textures that start to wear on you after a short time. There is a map though which is a big plus.

I like the bright and cartoony atmosphere of Aliens of Gold but Planet Strike is probably the better game. There's really not much to say about them. They're competent but not spectacular.

GO!

I'll admit, my 486 wasn't good enough for Doom, so I learned to enjoy the heck out of AOG. Bought the registered version later on.

If you plan on hitting up Blake Stone sometime I might jump in too, been curious about them forever.

However after all this Doom epicness, I feel more motivated to finally take another crack at Quake 1, and maybe replay 2 and 4 while I'm at it if I want more.

I felt inspired to play some Aliens of Gold. It's been a long time. Fuck those respawning electric aliens.

I really like the groovy spy music.

Heh. Makes it fun when you try for 100% and you realize they won't stop coming out of those black cross spots on the walls. My favorite part was blasting open the lockers where the brown aliens would be in sometimes. There are a lot of neat hidden secrets, check out the completed map screens when you find all the secrets in a level!

My problem was the ceiling guns that only could be taken out with 2 weapons (and NOT the plasma discharge unit!)

So Doom 64 just did the thing I hate the most in Doom engine games: the death pit you get no forewarning for. I just finished the last room of level 16 but I was hugging the wall, right when it decided to lower into a lava pit. Map 8 in Doom II pulls a similar thing. But it's far more frustrating here since there's not even the option of some sort of quick save; I'm just screwed and have to start a large level all over again.
