Firiona Vie, high elf princess, and pretty much the mascot character for Everquest.
Is this game known for it's competitive high score scene? Or is it just a case of: "we need boobs on the cover?"

This is the retro stuff I picked up in Japan last month, I was on a tight budget so most of it ranges from the $1-$5 range in pricing.

The NeoFami was $10USD, the gameboy was $12, the DSI was like $7. Also picked up some english warriors games on the PS4 for $5 each.

From what I can tell, the book isn't so much about high scores, but rather the history of video games. EverQuest would pretty well belong in that discussion, as one of the earliest MMO successes that more or less defined the genre pre-WoW. While I don't doubt there are...reasons...Firiona Vie is featured on all the cover art for the game and expansions. So, readily associated with the game.

Wednesday Fleamarket finds! I dont think I had any competition this morning! Good for me! LOL! Found some Majesco SNES reprints. They're the ones with the crappy stickers and the back label is part of the cart's plastic. They are Super Caesar's Palace and Championship Pool. $3.00 each. I then found Robot Chicken Season 1 for a dollar. Then I got some N64 games real cheap too! I got me two copies of Zelda, Starwars Rogue Squadron and Some JPN wrestling game with adapter cart. All four were $12! Sweet. I then found Sin and Punishment Wii still in wrapper for $5.00. Going through some boxes I found the guide to Afro Samurai for a dollar too! I like the anime but the game is so-so. Still happy to get it though. Sadly I got just a case only for Timestalkers for Dreamcast. I gave the guy $0.50 cents for it. I really wished the game was in it! But now I have the spare case, if I ever do come across it again. Digging through random boxes of stuff at another seller I found another artbook. This time for Gears of War 2. My artbooks collection keeps growing! The last two things I got was Eternal Ring for PS2 and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger for $5.00, I'm quite happy with the days gets!

Flojo, Good score on those cartridges. Five dollars for Ocarina of Time is a good price.

emwearz, I'm totally jealous of your trip to Japan. I think that Japanese copy of Wario World is especially cool. Tell us all about your journey.

Well, I went with my girlfriend. We started in Tokyo (we started in Shinjuku first) for about a week, the night life totally blew me away, as did how friendly everyone is. Drank a fair bit of beer and whiskey, the moment people found out we were from Australia / tourists they just layered on the love. I did Japanese at Primary and High School until I was about 17 so I knew a little of the lingo and locals seemed to get a kick out of me trying. The price of Alcohol and food was just overwhelming, and the vending machines were my jam! Akiba I found a bit of a bust, but it was still an amazing place to be after reading about it most of my life. The same with super potato, I didn't buy anything from their main store, but their smaller store (in Ikebukuro) was so much better, those junk sections were amazing. Most of the games I bought I got at Book Off stores, they are amazing! TRADER (Store 1 I think it was) had a junk section, where I got a bunch of stuff for Y108 (about $1.08USD), tested them all when I got home and everything worked. the cosplay, maid bars, etc where amazing to see.

We then head off to Kyoto on the bullet train and did more a nature / historical style tourism, totally different vibe, really hard to find video games in Kyoto, so I put it out of my mind after about a day and just soaked in some culture. The main point of Kyoto was so my girlfriend (who is a professional makeup artist / special effects makeup artist / make up trainer) could go to Hakohodo, so while she was shopping for make up brushes I was checking out the calligraphy brushes and what not. We where there in the height of Blossom season so some of the sights were utterly amazing. The weather at times was just insane, it rains what felt like bucket loads non stop then just stopped dead.

Then then went to Osaka in which we stayed in Den Den Town (Which is like Akihabra in Osaka) and the second hand computer stores were just awesome. I did not really buy anything PC related, but spent hours going throw tubs of stuff, just enjoying the hunt! again most of the big chains like Super Potato were just so overpriced I did not bother, but they pretty much stock EVERYTHING. I honestly think Den Den Town was more enjoyable than Akiba.

We then bullet trained right back to Tokyo and stayed in Shibuya (where the famous crossing is), we treated out last 4 days as massive vacation, not worrying about seeing things as we did that on our first trip and just enjoyed the food, the drinks, the culture and most of the people.

I could not recommend Japan enough, outside of gaming (which is still fairly expensive, you need to hunt around like you would anywhere else) it is just a lovely country that is so different to the western world that even going to the bathroom and pressing the music button so no one can hear you going to the toilet seems like an adventure.

We have decided to go back within the next year, from Australia you can get some fairly affordable flights if you go during the off season and as we were there for the blossom season (in which flights and accommodation have inflated prices) we can happily go during the off season the next few trips.

I will upload photos from my trip at some point.

Power was out from 9 to 12pm so they could install some new stuff at our nearby power station so I decided to go out. Ended up going to a few thrifts and pawns and goodwill for a good laugh nothing to exciting cropped up though.

The local Habitat for humanity had some interesting electronics come in but nothing really useful just some oddball slide/film projectors.

Goodwill ended up having some old floppy disk games that I ended up biting on since they were in such great shape but as usual the pricing was shit so I ended up spending $7 on the two I got. Would have been $10+ though had they been labeled as "Games" as opposed to "office misc". Really I would have spent $6.20 but they ask you to round up to the next dollar to support them and get rather rude when you don't do so :P .

As for the pawns I just ended up hitting one where I found Black Ops III for $20 and picked up a Jampack demo disc for $1 that I'm pretty sure I don't have yet.

They made duplicates of both the 5.25 install discs for each game.

Hey, congrats on getting the first Call of Duty game with a great single player since Call of Duty 2. Let me know if you want to play the "meh" multiplayer sometime and laugh at all the dick I'll be sucking.
