That's the first one. It's the most infamous puzzle, but it's probably not actually the hardest one. The whole game is just cruel in how the puzzles are designed!

Still pluggin' away at Wonder Boy.

As if the "backwards" controls weren't enough, to do a high jump (which needs to be done frequently) the attack and jump buttons must be pressed at the same time. Nope, not awkward at all.

Y'know there's only a few years between them and its over 20 years ago... the difference becomes less noticeable and as most people seem to have forgot I thought the idea was 'classic' games not just old.

You say that, but in the first five years of "modern" FPS design, there was far more innovation than you would see in the last fifteen years. FPS is radically different in 1991 from 1996.

And Catacomb 3-D is historically relevant. It's ID Software's first FPS, even predating Wolfenstein 3D. Duke Nukem may have brought the tongue-in-cheek humor and girls to FPS, but Catacomb 3-D is where you'll find the beginning of its soul. Don't knock it, and don't ever doubt its significance.
