Ghost Sweeper Mikami is solid stuff. Definitely worth a play.

Some solid choices you have there. Some that I wouldn't consider top tier too, but you've got quite a few of the classics. Are you looking to expand into new genres, stick to your mainstays, seek out hidden gems, or what?

Yeah looking to discover some lost treasure and share some with my friends as well. Somebody recommended Lufia to me. I really like JRPGs.

By the way got Shaq Fu for 99 cents bought it as a gag after seeing it on angry video game nerd.

Lost Viking Was the first Blizzard game I played think there was a remake for the saturn called Norse by Norse West

But the second one does in nearly every way.

GSM is very similar to Kendo Rage. I didn't realize that connection until now.

I was actually referring to Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge. Shaq Fu is really interesting from a technical perspective, though its controls keep it from reaching greatness. If you get the chance, watch two AI characters fight. It is far from what I'd consider the worst fighter on the Super Nintendo.

As for your JRPGs, yeah, you've got some good options to seek out if all you've managed to far to try out is FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Evermore. Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy II(ie. IV) are big names to go for, and the Lufia games are definitely a joy. If you're curious about RPG hybrids at all, I really recommend the JRPG-esque dungeon crawler Arcana as far as unknowns are concerned. If you'd prefer building things on your own, Robotrek might be more your speed. The Breath of Fires haven't held up as well, so most folks would probably suggest you opt for the later ports of those. And you'll find a running conversation on here about certain other SNES RPGs known for their difficulty or unforgiving mechanics.

That said, if you really like RPGs beyond just JRPGs...well, young padawan, you are about to encounter the Dark Side.

It's not a remake...It is a full on sequel. While it isn't as good as the original, it is available on the PS1, the Saturn, and...the SNES!

If you are going to play it, go with the PS1 version if you like pre-rendered sprites and solid voice acting and go with the SNES version is you like "old fashioned" sprites (and the ability to unlock a pretty cool secret).

I guess I just figured most of the games back then were exported by Japan. I really enjoy anything with a memorable story and detailed back story on each individual character.

What games did you have in mind or do you classify as a standard RPG?

If you enjoy action-RPGs, play these immediately:

Got a USA release.

A pretty amazing game Nintendo made for SFC/SNES, got an English translation:

Those are just the tip of the iceberg. The SNES has some really amazing stuff... especially once you start getting into the SFC releases.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Remember when you and Exed forced me to buy that along with Cacoma Knight in Bizyland (aka Kawaii Qix)? I have yet to finish either one.
